Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Malahide 10th June 2026

torn on this one, my last malahide gig was a sh-tshow getting out, shocking organisation by MCD/security/gardai or whoever the buck falls at, crushes for the dart, people panicking, straight up dangerous…

having said that I saw them for the first time at the 3 last Novemeber and i must say it was one of the best gigs i've ever been at, im far from a Nick Cave super-fan but obviously know a bit of the catalogue, based on reports and reviews of his gigs over the years i made it my business to go while he's still at it, had tickets for the covid era gig that was ultimately shelved, anyway the gig in the 3 was incredible, probably the best frontman ive ever seen and the band were just superb, some show

city of refuge and stranger then kindness were amazing to hear live. From her to eternity and Tupelo always hit the mark. Voice cracked a few times and some of the lyrics got mixed up on Hollywood but who cares. Thought Warren was quiet or way down in the mix for most of it.

They all seemed to enjoy themselves, first night of the new set threw up a few pauses between songs until they figured it out. Haven’t seen Nick reading lyrics as much before from prompter.

Very small crowd especially in front standing not that anyone minded. He didn’t want to leave at the end, a five song encore wasn’t what I was expecting and the impromptu finish was class.

Carnage is the song. The original lyric is "reading Flannery O'Connor" but after Sinéad passed away he changed it to "listening to Sinéad O'Connor" for some (maybe all?) live performances of that song.

Very enjoyable gig, one of the best I’ve seen him, inspite of fluffed lines. He was really engaged. So many highlights - Henry Lee, Papa wont leave you Henry, Into my arms (brilliant set of lungs on that lady from the choir, Jubilee Street, Mercy Seat). A much more mellow experience than times in oast, especially on his older tunes.

I was up in front standing and it was pretty busy without being packed like sardines. Not sure what the issue was. Great mix of people from teens to really old people with walking sticks singing along.

Sound - no issues where we were, but it is an outdoor venue.

So what if there arent 30/40/50 thousand people there. Its hard enough place to get in and out of without squeezing tonnes of folk in, in any case the Seeds are certainly not everyones cup of tea.

Many of the previous posters here were correct - he did indeed start bang on 8pm! Fair play to him and the band - played solidly for 2hrs, 5min break and back again for another 20mins or so. I liked the informality of the gig - he said at the start that it was the first of a series of outdoor festival gigs around Europe and that they would be experimenting, and that's what happened. Also liked the smaller crowd - so much easier to move around, get to the bar and exiting wasn't the normal hassle it can be. Finishing with "Rainy Night in Soho" was cool - not only a tribute to Shane but also to Trevor Dietz.

A smaller crowd has its advantages. Plenty of space in front standing, and you could hear a pin drop during "Joy" - incredible experience for that song.

i loved it too, what a performer, tired just looking at him running around and im not 68!, he was a bit croaky at the start i thought but he warmed up nicely, took quite a while to get the crowd going i thought, i was in front standing and i liked it, plenty of room, some folks on reddit giving out about that, the front was far from full so there was a bit gap between front and rear, agree with Bill.. Joy was a real moment, loved the set and liked that RRH and Into my Arms were mid set, Papa dont leave… was great, Jubilee ST epic as always, loved the banter, he was quite funny, it did seem thin on the crowd but didnt bother me, got out just as Rainy Night came on, was sure he was done, it was over curfew, miffed about that but hey, sailed to the dart in no time, barely missed a train but was on one ten minutes later, some difference from the last time i was there, brought a friend that does not know him at all but she fell head over heels for him! great stuff all round, cheers

Great gig at Malahide. The weather was good which helps a lot.

I've been to quite a few gigs there and never saw it so quiet.

No queues at bars or toilets.

I was at front standing, plenty of room. Didn't have an issue with the sound other than it could have been a bit louder, 1 louder? 😂

Yeah, Joy was incredible last night. Had a proper emotional moment during it. Loved the setlist aswell. Some nice surprises in there. Hollywood to finish the main set was great.

Great gig last night. Crowd were nice, no queues, weather played ball….my only issues were being in the bathroom when ‘Bright Horses’ (favourite song) came on and not knowing a huge amount of the encore. ‘Rainy Night in Soho’ was brilliant.

Great gig and a great man and performer. I loved every minute of it. Right up the front. Numbers were down but that's good for those who attended. The toilet areas were clean, I hope they roll out those cubicles at the festivals. A much more enjoyable experience this time around at Malahide. Those moments of silence were crazy, never seen anything like it.

Ah ok. He did the Sinéad line when I saw him in New York in 2023 (the shows with just himself and Colin Greenwood) but that was only a few months after she died.
