Will it happen? Will you go? Will it be big enough to sell enough seats?
My take is:
unlikely, no and no.
I don't get all the talk of this not selling out….the whole country would have an interest in going regardless of what sport you follow or even if you don't follow sport. Tickets priced very well too…. 27'077 ahead of me in the queue now!
All lot of people I know trying for tickets, myself included, wouldn't ordinarily go to a boxing match, but if you're ever going to get to see her fight live this is probably one of the only opportunities you'll get…. the stadium is large and the tickets are supposedly reasonably priced.
Edit: Nearly a half hour in and still nowhere near buying tickets
They need to make an event out of this and no doubt they will given the people involved.
Women's boxing is 10 x 2 mins so over before you know it.
I have zero interest in going. I follow sport. But I'm not really a fan of pro boxing. Also not a fan of Taylor since she began endorsing McGregor.
Yes…and her Mike Tyson is my idol…tone deaf!!!
Considering it's her retirement fight it's the last time you'll get (probably)
This is the kinda nonsense that annoys me.
Tickets allegedly available "From" 38 euro or family of four pricing available circa 120 euro or something were the reports out last week. Knew well it would be very limited numbers.
I had considered going purely as an event at those kind of price points, but purely on principle now, as TM and the promotors and indirectly Katie are absoloute tearing the arse outta it, no chance.
It's an expensive enough day out as it is.
If they are trying to sell tickets at the prices you outline there, they'll never get close to selling out nor should they if people had sense.
Usually there are limited amounts of all tickets in a "pre sale", there'll be many more when general tickets go on sale.
Happened when WWE came over and even recently with Les Mis, presale I was only offered tickets for €106, general sale got ones for €36.
Ah I get that tbf, and I'd say if demand isn't there (which it would not be at the higher price points) there'll be a lot more cheaper tickets available.
Still, reading the inital part of this thread has probably given me more reasons not to go.
ended up getting the €146 tickets after an hour…. already have buyers remorse!! I wont feel so bad if it sells out, but if it doesn't ill be raging paying that price… breaking it to the other half will be something else, he said if I was getting tickets he wanted the non drinking section cause he wouldn't have the head for a load of drunks at a boxing match, but those tickets where Id say the first to go…. will he go or will I be stung with tickets I cant shift? 😬
Ticketmaster are an absolute joke.
Went from 12k to zero in the queue and got kicked out. Started again and went from 26K to zero and there was nothing left but still made we wait till I got to the top of the queue. Couldn't even get one ticket.
1¼ hours I'll never get back 🤣
I managed to get 3 of the cheap seats in the Lidl presale, was at 21k in the queue, took a while to get in , then started churning out the pricey seats, kept filtering on the cheap prices /refreshing, eventually 3 popped up , Upper Cusack, total after fees was 130.65 euro .
Happy out.
Speak for yourself. No, the whole country does not have an interest in going. Plenty of people regard Taylor as a complete pain in the arse
I think the girl she's fighting is a bit of a no hoper anyway. Should be an easy win.
Boxing wouldn't float my boat, but she's had a spectacular career. Fitting end to it.
Got €100 tickets myself in the end (could have been 106 or something).
Lower tier in line with the ring, can't complain.
They really wouldn't. Personally, no interest, anyone I know has no interest. Chatting to lads at work and they wouldn't pay the prices of the tickets.
So I don't believe it would ever sell out.
Chatting to lads at work and they wouldn't pay the prices of the tickets.
Tickets pretty reasonably priced I thought tbh.
No tickets available.
I would defo go to watch it.
Biggest figure possibly ever in Irish womens sport, maybe alongside Sonia.
As for 'she endorsed McGregor' or Mike Tyson or whatever…. thats up to you. If you dont want to go, then dont go. As for the big moral statements….. did you know Seamus Coleman once ate some nutella with palm oil….stop watching the soccer team. Or dont.
40,000 tickets sold this morning according to Hearn.
Genuinely surprised it sold 40k today, personally thought that the event would top out at that kind of number.
I like Katie but for someone who is supposed to be so religious, I cant see how she can be such great mates with McGregor, he will no doubt be at Croke park as well, playing the big man while 90% of the Country cant stand him and wishes he wasn't Irish.
My guess is that there are very very very few people who would have gone to this, but changed their mind on the basis of her being in photos with McGregor.
I think for people who wouldnt have gone anyway, its easy to turn around and say 'well ever since……photo with mcgregor….so no way will I be going'.
We all know about McGregor. And look, I take your point completely. But personal view - I weigh up all that Katie has done, and I give her a pass on this. Similar to Kellie Harrington and the radio interview she did. I wouldnt be happy about either of those issues at all, but I am not in favour of 'cancelling' them as a result.
Gareth Brooks sold out 5 nights in Croke Park. There is a serious herd mentality in this country. As a long time watcher of boxing, Eddie Hearn believes his own lies at this stage so take everything he says with a pinch of salt.
I hope it sells out.
Anyidea who the post match music acy will be?
Gas the hoopla and media articles about this being sold out, when you can still get tickets, and have been ever since the "sold out" articles started appearing. Hearn has a great PR team.
This is all a con.Just a money grab for Hearn and of course the stupid Irish fell for it. Hope it doesn't sell out tbph.
Where? All I can see are tickets for €700
Same as that
If that's all that's left it's as good as sold out.
Well I guess if you decide to arbitrarily exclude the pitch seating tickets, which haven't been sold yet, then yes it's "sold out".
In the non-spin world, only the cheap tickets have sold out, there's loads of the more expensive tickets still for sale.
