I would assume because there so much competition now that not all customers will be set on Tesla.
Also if VW etc reduce their prices, Tesla probably won't be able to leave theirs the same.
A bigger issue though is the allocation. For Dublin, Limerick, Cork and Galway it equates to 700 cars.
Let's assume there is plenty of applications, if I contact Tesla on 1st July to renew my order, if they take a week to submit the application to get the letter of offer, other dealerships might have been quicker off the mark in getting applications in. So if its oversubscribed in a few days before Tesla submit the application im not getting this €5000.00.
If Tesla have removed their €2000 trade booster, in my case id be paying €2000 more than the present price instead of potentially €3000.00 less if I had secured the grant.
For this reason it might be too much of a gamble.
I was told you can’t avail trade in bonus if you’re scrapping since they are two different things and there’s no guarantee that our application would be submitted on time & approved.
Tesla have offered okayish 2.5k trade in value for wife’s car and combined with the bonus, I see we’re pretty much near the new grant. moreover the current car is in good condition (small engine & low co2) and can go on for a number of years and hence we thought to go ahead and collect car next week.
it would still be worth your while to wait 10 days to the 262 registration.
I know we have the same circular convo with Tesla deliveries every June and December, but the reality is that reg plate matters in the second hand market for pricing no matter what.
The December plate will make a difference in 3 or 4 years time, the june/July plate wont have any noticeable effect

If you configure a Model3 it shows the VAT , VRT etc. I think the base model is VRT exempt. Click on the Cash tab.

I picked up my new model 3 standard RWD yesterday.
Im quite happy with it but i noticed a couple of things.
I would be curious if others recently picked up a new Tesla and noticed the same?
I believe autopilot has to have so many km under its belt before it starts working. It calibrates of sorts.
You also have to enable it in the settings as far as I remember. I think mine only had the adaptive cruise control enabled by default.
Collected wife’s M3 rwd last week from Baldonnel, and had to subscribe to premium connectivity although the first month was free. I see she will be paying for it starting next month.
Autopilot worked fine when we used it few times on the way back to Cork. Haven’t heard it pulling to the other lane before. Have you tried resetting the settings?

Autopilot is far from a gimmick. Really depends on your usage Id say. Probably not great benefit if your daily driving consists of tipping round the suburbs in Dublin.
But I find it brilliant for reducing fatigue on long haul commutes. Fitting a Commander module by Enhance Auto via the OBD added their 'Continuous Autopilot' feature (amongst numerous others) which improved it further.
TACC? I picked my new M3 a week ago and it was all working out of the box .
I find it very handy, not perfect but a fantastic quality of life improvement for driving

Is this the new basic autopilot? It it the exact same as basic autopilot?
Basic autopilot is traffic aware crsuise control, and the Tesla implementation is good.
Autosteer seems to be a bit of a gimmick added across the top to tempt folks to upgrade to Enhanced Autopilot. IMO it's a gimmick and the implementation is glitchy nd naggy, requiring pressure on the wheel every 10 seconds or so. The bright colours on the screen don't help either - although I suspect this is probably customisable in a sub menu somewhere.
What car are you driving? Autosteer is excellent on long journeys especially, not discounting it's perfect on all motorways and N/R routes too. Hardly a gimmick
Have used Autosteer on the motorway and it was perfectly fine for 100 odd Km we used it for. I have also used it in city and it worked well when the lane marking are clear.
I was looking at infotainment screen yesterday and spotted top speed number to be 177km/hr. I recall model 3 sold in UK has lower acceleration as well as top speed while Irish spec is a bit faster. Any one else spotted this?
You're saying your version of autosteer is hands-free?
Because, if it isn't, what's the point? The nagging is horrific and if the software makes you touch the wheel every 10 seconds or so then you're just as well off simply holding the wheel and doing it yourself.

My polestar also insists on the driver holding the steering wheel while using the auto lane change function or whatever it's called.
The BYD Seal is the same. After 10 seconds you have to put your hands on the wheel.
It is obviously a safety feature if all cars are the same.
To be honest it's terrible in the polestar so not something I use. Last time I tried it it kept insisting on taking every slip road it passed on the motorway
