Hoping a New Thread may fix the posting issues.
😂😂😂
I'm a big Isak fan, I'm very happy we got him. Ekitike too to a lesser extent. But it's the wide players we are now lacking. 2 wingers and giving Rio more time would be enough, letting Chiesa go too.
So you have Isak, Ekitike, Gakpo, Rio and 2 new wingers on the books which is 6 for the 3 forward positions, 5 with Ekitike injured for now
And 2 full senior international players in Morrison and Koumas to add to Will Wright and Jayden Danns as the players to get cup minutes and be break glass emergency options.
Rumours Real want MacAllister
He's not out of contract. How dare they!
I don't see a big draw for either side to go through with a deal. Nunez is in his prime years, Liverpool could be his best shot at being a top club (and hopefully one competing at the highest level) but he's not first 11 material so would he be content spending a lot of time on the bench? From Liverpool's POV, if the finances make sense (i.e. his wages aren't crazy) then maybe it's worth a shot. He has the right attitude but if his decision making and finishing haven't improved in the last year, then he's going to be as frustrating to watch as ever…. scoring some outrageous goals and missing sitters. The best question the club have to ask themselves is if they think Iraola is the man to unlock prime Nunez?
Ekiteke hit the ground running faster than anyone expected I think. He wasn't proven when we signed him and he 100% would have been on the bench behind Isak if he had been fit. So, Isak was an important signing. As for waiting the whole Summer, it was a Summer long saga with earlier bids rejected and towards the end I expect it was Newcastle holding it up until they had Woltemende (sp?) confirmed. One thing I never understood btw, even though his pre-season with Newcastle was ruined… why was he still unable to get properly fit? I mean surely he was doing his own training to get fit and then once we got him surely the aim was to do a faux "pre season training plan" with him.
Can't believe people are on about bringing back Nunez, while he has good workrate, he was a very frustrating player, missing absolute sitters that cost us dearly. He might work as cover for Ekitike as he already knows most of the squad, so should fit in quickly and we could sell him on next summer if he hasn't improved from his last time with us, but, I think we'd be better looking at someone else.
Few rumours of us going for Alex Scott too. Though I'm skeptical of any rumours linking is to Bournemouth players, they're just too easy to embellish with Iraola moving that way
I don't know how much money will be there this Summer. I'd rather we focused on what we have already in the youth ranks to fill those gaps up front, if it meant that the money that is actually available was to be prioritised in midfield.
We spent 400m+ on mostly attacking players last summer and while we're in an unfortunate situation with injuries, we can't let another post season window go by without fixing the issue with balance in midfield.
It would be nice for the money to be there to fix all the issues, but I don't think it will.
The big rumour doing the rounds now is Richard Hughes is of to Al-Hilal once he is finished working on the summer transfer window for Liverpool.
His assistant David Woodfine likely to fill his shoes once he departs.
Bring back Jorg Shmadtke!
If we were to focus on two wingers. Diomande and barcola for example, then Darwin makes sense for me. Darwin can cover a couple of positions, gakpo covers a couple and we use Rio the amount he should be used.
When ekitike comes back, isak isn't run into the ground, so we can manage ekitike back to full fitness.
And next summer we can try to sell darwin, covering his wages.
We've got work to do in midfield and defence too imo.
People often ask 'who is your champions league final 11' but that attitude won't get you to a champions League final. Who is coming on for extra time in the CL quarter final second leg vs PSG/REAL/BAYERN is what I'm worried about. Isak, diomande and barcola could get you to the extra time, but there's no way all the are finishing it.
That's a very good explanation, thanks 🙂
Fair enough. Yes. I was speaking with the benefit of hindsight. Ekitike would have been understudy to Isak but an expensive one. It did seem strange to prioritise 200m for two very similar players. And then Wirtz who still seems a luxury. Albeit one who may start to shine next season under the right manager.
Could folks not say where these rumors they put up here are from, so we can decipher the level of credibility
I didn't realise Rio Ngumoha has only two years left on his contract. That's got to be a top priority this summer to get him locked down on a long term deal.
That's a recipe for disaster imo.
Our beat youth attacker is Rio and he is not ready to be one of the 5 (or 6)
....
There is a restriction on how many years can be on the contract of underage players IIRC.
I also think that this is linked to the recent 'story' of Bayern Munich wanting Rio, I think it was a planted story by his agent to get Liverpool working on a new deal for him, on adult wages.
I thought all the initial contracts when you turn 17 were three years? Maybe I'm wrong though.
Liverpool were linked with a move for Alex Scott as a potential replacement for Jones in April/May.
My view on it at the time was that dispite a title winning season, the vast majority of our goals were coming from our wings (and 3 players…. Salah, Gakpo, Diaz). Nunez and Jota got (checks notes) 16 goals between them. With Jota's death, and Nunez and Diaz shipped out, I felt it was the right approach to bring in proper strikers (Isak proven, Ekiteke for the future). It just all sort of went to sh*t really didn't it 🤷
Divock Origi retires at 31
What a legend. The Barcelona game was the best game I've ever experienced but he was much more than that, Newcastle, Spurs, Everton…legend
"I look back and just shake my head in awe at everything I have accomplished in this game that I love. Even now, as I write this, it is unbelievable to me that the little boy, from Belgium and Kenya, achieved all his dreams."

Guess that's it then, football is now nothing
Divock Origi has announced his retirement 🥺🥺...what a fukken legend
This is fun 🙂
And a very good edit of that night...
What a man
I still love Wijnaldum wrestling the ball off Ter Stegen after his first goal
"Here lad let me see your ball, I'll give it back to you in a minute"
You'll also see Divock doing the same after his Everton goal, even though we'd just taken the lead 🙈🤣
They can have him
big difference between signing him on a free as support for Isak and Ekitike (once fit again) and him being our main option as CF.
