Hoping a New Thread may fix the posting issues.
In the end the performances haven't been good enough but fact that it was Hughes' decision to sack him when Hughes himself should have been fired 2 seasons ago doesn't sit well at all.
The club are a complete mess behind the scenes right now and a new manager isn't going to hugely effect that one way or another.
Glad he's gone.
Thankful for 20 and his handling, emotionally, of the Jota tragedy.
But it's been clear since February '25 that something was slightly off, and it only got worse from there.
Iraola makes some sense. But it's still a bit unknown how he'll handle a massive club.
Talk about wholesale changes in the summer. It's the right decision imo, just hope they have someone lined up.
Do u still believe Slot is a fraud?
I'm not a Liverpool fan, and I was surprised he was sacked. A quick look here, and I can see that I am probably alone in thinking that. He probably deserved more time, and would likely do better without Salah sowing discontent in the squad.
On a separate note, surprising to see the club used AI to write their statement.
should’ve been fired two seasons ago? Hughes only joined the club two seasons ago!
No they didn't.
You really do wonder at times do people actually follow the club or do they just post nonsense for the bantz
Yes.
Some people don't like the word, but he's been incapable of getting the best out of this team for over a year.
He showed no indication he could turn things around. Club stumbled into the champions league. His style of play will not yield results in premier league. Best to cut now
The timing of this announcement is also interesting.
Front page news on Champs League final day……..
He isn’t a fraud.
Do you think we didn’t go for Alonso because the ‘review’ hadn’t happened? Or just he wasn’t the preferred candidate?
How about getting Arteta in ?
As long throw coach.
No. I disagree. I believe you see those types of posts because after months of being called stuff like "not a real fan" for simply pointing out the obvious that Arne was never gonna turn things around it's nice to be vindicated and to be able to show those people that they were just plain wrong all along despite alot of them being so smug and condescending about it. I believe that is just human nature, nothing "wind up merchant" about it at all. If they weren't so condescending you wouldn't see those types of posts imo.
Yes he was incapable of getting the best out of the team for about 12 months,a good few factors didn't help his cause but ultimately it did still come down to him. He won the club a league title and if that's what constitutes a fraud then what do you call the majority of managers in the business?
Don't think they had any interest in Alonso at all for some reason?
Stevie talking about it on TNT right now
"Right time"
"Not surprised"
"He'll start in the role after the World Cup"
One of those statements not true
not watching, throw up a quick synopsis of what he said if you can please?
Nothing much other than what you expect - think Iraola is a potentially good choice, obviously started looking for the replacement a lot longer than just today, any elite manager will be interested etc
Thankfully wasn't asked about himself
👍.
Romano clearly said the club would take a decision after the end of season review.
Thanks to him for the PL winning season, but thank **** he's gone, last season was a disaster.
See what I mean?? So smug and condescending…🙄
Fraud is a very strong word. I mean, he’s won titles in the Netherlands and England, so it’s pretty safe to say he knows what he’s doing.
He’s a top coach who had a difficult year and lost the dressing room. It happens. But that doesn’t mean he won’t do well elsewhere.
Condescending the past few weeks and proved wrong.
A lot of wasted posts the past few weeks it seems.
It has to be the latter. It would be farcical/negligent if they were so short sighted not to approach or appoint him because an end of season review hadn't happened yet.
If they didn't fancy him then that's fair enough. He made a lot of sense on paper but whether someone is the right appointment or not is subjective and even if anyone disagreed, you could understand it. They give the impression they really don't want a manager who plays 3/5 at the back, even thinking back to when Amorim seemed the prime candidate when Klopp was leaving.
Why should Hughes have been sacked two years ago when he only joined the club two years ago?
I'd be shocked if Alonso wasn't approached. I'm sure we'll find out in time.
Thanks Arne, got us a title and 2 championships league runs. 1 of inly 13 managers to get the PL, and Equal with 9 others with 1.
That being said, really glad the club have made this decision, couldn’t see any way back. At least won’t be as pessimistic a summer.
Onwards and upward YNWA
Maybe some people on here shouldn't forget the fact that Arne Slot won the Premier League in his first season at the club- just a thought!
