May as well throw one up to keep the discussion in the one spot.
Hopefully Ulster do the business this evening to kick off a great weekend for Irish rugby..
When your two mistakes have directly led to opposition trys then yeah you've had a howler.
Firstly, it’s Byrne, not Bryne.
Secondly, is criticism of him an ‘agenda’ now?
Plenty have been poor today. Byrne is one of them.
Why are you so defensive of him? I know you don’t like Prendergast, so could it be that you are, in fact, the one with the agenda?
blaming Byrne for some mistakes and ignoring how Leinster are losing the collisions is a strange take.
He got hauled off after 44 minutes for a reason. He has had a bad game - including some massive errors. I don’t know why it is so hard for you to accept this.
He, along with several other players, should not see the pitch next week.
Keenan has been poor, TOB poor also. Ioane has put his hand up a bit in the second half.
At this level and given the nature of the mistakes, yeah. He's a starting 10 for (apparently) one of the best teams in Europe. The calibre of player Leinster need or should have, in a European Cup Final, does not make those mistakes.
Conan off at last
The great thing about your statements is that both of them are true.
The reason why there’s a focus on Byrne is because someone is arguing about the suggestion that he’s been poor. There’s nobody disputing the fact that Leinster have been played off the park.
I remember the usual cohort on here blaming the players after the Treviso game
THIS PERFORMANCE IS THE FAULT OF THE COACHES………
Once more
I'm tired of the hyperbole that he's criticized with. There's zero recognition of all the good things he did today. Two mistakes and he's having a howler. It's folks with a preset opinion of a player who want to **** on him. Acting like Byrne is the reason we've lost today is laughable. He made mistakes, he was also responsible for orchestrating the only good attacks we had today.
Byrne should not be the scapegoat but nothing in his previous games, this season or beforehand, suggest he's at this level. That's fine and he's a good URC player but this is beyond him.
Leinster looked for 8 pm ko. French tv refused as they were more interested in covering Cannes film festival closing ceremony
You may or may not remember Sexton playing a major role in our losses to La Rochelle.
It is time. They have run out of excuses. Time for this coaching ticket to move aside and let someone else lose a final instead. This isn’t soccer, but at some stage you need to change up the one common factor in all those losses. Nienabers defence can do one, it hasn’t produced Jack **** in 2.5 years.
Thanks Leo.
He was part of the reason. He was bad. Other players were also bad but HB was just bad.
You are always going to get more grief for completely unpressured mistakes like kicking a restart dead. It is unacceptable stuff.
HB has been off the pitch for 20 minutes and we're still discussing this.
Nobody is disputing that Leinster, as a whole, are playing muck. But Harry, individually, was pretty muck. Some poor tackle attempts as well as the two more obvious errors.
I feel extremely sorry for the players
Irfu have to step in
Nienaber coming in has been severely damaging
Leo was bailed out by Lancaster. Now his own inadequacies have been laid bare.
Is simple . Leinster choked. Tension crept into their kicking and handling
Yea, but there was a whole other sequence that happened after that before the try was scored. Is he to blame for the poor defense that let Bordeaux score from there? Bad kicks happen, was that worse than Keenan stepping out on the full or giving away a scrum for making contact with LBB's kick through?
Yes, two major mistakes which lead to tries are only described as a howler.
He was piss poor today, like a lot of players out there. He’s not being scapegoated or over criticised. It’s a clear indicator, again, that he’s not good enough at the top level.
The only reason there is a long discussion about him is because you refuse to accept what is in front of you.
Nobody is disputing that Sheehan has been poor, or Henshaw, or Keenan, or McCarthy, or Conan.
You, for some bizarre reason, don’t believe Byrne has been poor, which is why we find ourselves in this long-winded conversation where other poster are suggesting that Byrne is being made the scapegoat.
The reason we lost is because this group of players are horrendously coached and, as a unit, have been far from good enough. However, there is nothing wrong with pointing out that Byrne has flattered to deceive.
Will Billy Barry get a hat trick?
Leinster inflicted the biggest ever Heineken Cup final defeat on Ulster (28 points). Bordeaux are setting a new one as it stands
i think Harry was fine overall. Again, what else did he do in the 45 mins he was on? Generate multiple line breaks, make a try saving tackle, make good tactical kicks. Zero recognition for any of that though, just a blanket condemnation.
SA TMOs are the worst. Always looking for a reason to interrupt. Jonker is terrible.
btw
You know the URC will be sighted as some sort of big achievement
They should win the URC this season but I think even these brilliant and professional players may now be finally crushed
Penaud in at the side of that maul.
Lifts him over the horizontal and drives his weight down into him...just a penalty. Good man there, Karl. He's been as awful today as we have.
He also gave Bordeaux two trys which you constantly try to talk around and ignore.
If he was ‘fine overall’ he wouldn’t have been hooked at 44 minutes.
I’m sorry but you are just not facing reality here. Why? Only you can answer that.
I like Frawley but he really needs to execute that, he was under no pressure
