Man Vs ManUre until 9/05/23
it’s a good job they did the draw almost two weeks ago so the county board and supporters have fixture details and can make travel plans accordingly……
After Roscommon this year and Cavan last year I don't think we can afford to underestimate anyone. We won't be complacent but confidence may not be where it could be. It's a game to get through whatever way we can.
Are you talking about Mayo or Monaghan??
Monaghan have beaten Cavan & Derry and showed great fight in that match against Derry - something we completely lacked against Roscommon, if we show the same lack of grit against Monaghan, we'll be beat out the door again. I wouldn't be putting any money on us winning the midfield battle against them and if we can't do that, we'll really struggle.
This is a huge match for Andy; if he loses it, the knives will be out for him
if ye need a laugh….

Monaghan we can not be as bad as we where against the rossies can we.
id expect us to lift it big time.
Id expect that we will compete far better but if the game is in the melting pot in the second half will these players have the resolve or cave in. Its been a while since we have won a tight championship match.
I don’t remember Mayo being four points up with 10 mins to go in the semi final in 2015. Brooks brought that up but his as usual wrong.
Mayo were level at HT, got a point and a goal after HT and then Keegan kicks a ball into Cluxtons hands….from there Dublin took over and won out easy winners.
Brolly was waffling on his podcast saying Mayo were never the same after that. Well they should have won in 16 and 17. Two own goals in 2016 and Brolly was nearly crying at HT on the Sunday game saying the curse is real. Brolly has a split personality if you ask me.
I think I've identified the cause of your problem here
"they should have won in 16 and 17"
Should have isn't worth a hill of beans. Dublins name in the record books, same as Tyrone, Kerry and Armagh since.
We have the same error prone goalkeeper in 2026 and the same full forward with his legs nearly gone scoreless in most games.
We would not beat that Westmeath team imo. A few very handy players and well-coached.
I don’t think we will beat Monaghan either unless there is a massive massive improvement and lots of changes in the defensive spine of the team.
Monaghan 6/4 to win (they were 9/4 last week), I'd say a few Monaghan folk will take them at that price
Agree. Monaghan ran out of puff today but battled really well in normal time. We will struggle with them.
Looks like it`s in the genes.
Both him and his father have now managed a team to win a provincial title and both have senior all Ireland medals.
Monaghan are a tough outfit and not easy beaten at home, but that extra time today will have taken a lot out of them. Stay with them, use your bench well and it will show in the last quarter.
Isn't this week a dead rubber so chances are we won't perform? Isn't that the way we roll! If it was knockout we'd have some hope of a performance!
Does anyone know when they are announcing the day and time of the match against Monaghan? The GAA seemed to announce the times for next weekend's games fairly quickly. I don't understand the delay after making the draw so early before the provincials and then not announce the time of the game.
Anyone know why Mikey Murray hasn't been involved? I know he previously had a lot of injuries but he's been the dominant MF in the club championship for the past couple of years
The All-Ireland Senior Football Championship meeting of Mayo and Monaghan will take place in Saint Tiernach's Park, Clones, on Sunday, May 31
Throw in is scheduled for 4 pm.
Mayo match fixture details finally announced
Cillian gone with a hamstring injury
Good time for Andy to kickstart the much needed player culling by sitting him down and telling him that his body can no longer cope with the demands of inter county football.
Interesting challenge v Kildare over the weekend, someone's beginning to listen and a marked improvement in overall play, won the match and peace in the camp FOR NOW.
Were you at it ? Was there a change in keeper?
Not to worry, I hear Andy has called Mickey Conroy back into the squad to cover for Cillian!
No harm. Having him in the team is crazy stupid. Hopefully that’s the end of him but I expect like a bad smell he will hang around disrupting the rebuild. Similar selfish behaviour to Cluxton where it’s hurting Dublin now.
That's some attitude towards a player who has given the team years of service and put this team in a lot of games they would not be in without him.
It was noticable their lack of scoring threat in the last few years without him.
It's probably the end of his career so thanks Cillian for all your great efforts.
Especially this
It was Livingstone supposedly.
When you see a recently registered poster putting up nonsense like that, it's worth asking yourself "Is this likely to be a Mayo supporter or just someone fishing?"
Good man yourself, I suppose you're one of those "I just tell it how it is" loudmouths who never achieved anything in their lives.
I dont contest his contribution in any shape or form, he gave some great days over the years and dug Mayo out of many a hole. His scoring record speaks for itself.
However since his major injury I cant say he has contributed much if anything at all. He should retire with dignity instead of hanging around. I am not alone saying this, this topic and sentiment comes up about 50% of the time his name is mentioned anywhere including on here. Plenty of talk of demands of andy only on the last page, is that how a person with mayo as their priority operates?
I think the comparison to cluxton is very apt, cluxton because of his desire to have a mysterious enigma thought he was bigger than the team and refused to announce his retirement and hung around and took sabaticals which definitely impacted the development of his replacement. I see plenty of similarities to how cillian operates. There is not an endless list of jerseys to hand out and I feel there are several young lads more deserving of the one cillian has.
