Ive had this on various cars over the years and never bothered me too much, i did think itbwas quite sensitive and shading from trees would have been one of the triggers.

It's equivalent of Daylight running lights tbh. Can't turn them off on motorcycles at all.
On another topic now that OBD2 back working, battery at 95.7 after 2.5 years and about 43000K and home charged. Would that be good or bad

That's well within the battery warranty which is fairly strong in the marketplace. 8 years or 250,000 km at 70% SOH, Even within current run rate you'd be around 25 percent at that rate to odometer which is 5% under the warranty.
All the same alot of the older batteries from byd on Chinese busses show that the rates are higher early days up front and then tapers off alot. It's not linear.
It’s nothing like DRLs at all. We have DRLs in play and that’s fine. This is totally unrelated. It’s AUTO lights and it’s a safeguard for gobshites who fail to turn on their main lights (front and back) when daylight ebbs….and it cannot be deactivated….but could be for at least 2 software versions.
🤷♂️ Genuinely never noticed it, I pass under plenty of under passes and forest areas too.

First car I remember it happening in was one of the peugeots I had, either a 206 or 307, I think it was the 2002 307
Is it the fact you cant deactivate it? I suppose in all my cars it could be deactivated if I wanted but I always just set up auto and never touched it again
I agree with above. Although 5% is a bit high especially considering reasonably low mileage and home charged, time (not just mileage/usage) also affects battery degradation. LFP batteries (which BYD uses) typically degrade faster initially, but then level out, and degrade much less and last far longer than the NMC batteries that many other EV’s use.

You can see the current OTA that’s on the car, and it looks like as soon as a new OTA is available, you can see it in the app, and choose to update the car from the app (rather than discover the new OTA when you ‘start’ the car and then have to find a non driving time to install it). Nice 😀
Has there been any sign of the facelift? Any BYD deliveries due in? Dealers seem to be playing dumb but it has been on the website for a while now.
was just at BYD Wexford to get my software fixed (now officially on 2.2.0 with the GPS working, yay), they mentioned they'll get them in H2 of this year.
I don’t think the website is fully up to date, as the new model comes in red and lavender, and those options aren’t listed. I also expect there will be a slight increase in price.
That’s after a slight increase in price last year, while the competition are dropping their prices. These are not exactly flying off the shelves so you’d expect pricing to remain static or drop.
3 a week of the EV going out the door this year and 4 times that of the PHEV seal.
Hardly poor sales for a new model at a high price point tbf. It's not even far off Kona numbers considering the price difference and brand recognition of that. 🤷♂️

Pure electric sales only. Sales dropping while pricing increasing shows it for what it is. Don’t take it personally, it’s only a car.

Those stats i posted are the numbers of seals sold. Not combined BYD etc Not opinion just the facts of numbers.

The PHEV/Hybrids are Seal U if I am not mistaken so not included in my figures……If I am wrong, show me and I'll apologise for being wrong.
Anyway, back to my original point. It seems mad to increase pricing on a product where sales are falling.
