GoMo have just launched a fibre broadband offering. 500Mb/s at €29.99pm for life on a 30 day rolling contract for the first 10,000 customers. You have to be a current or new GoMo mobile customer.

Only available to open eir, not NBI/SIRO/Virgin FTTP etc.

One time activation fee of €49.99. If you leave GoMo mobile at any point in the future, the price increases by €10pm.

It has to be more than 24hrs before the date to be able to change it on MyGoMo afaik

im in a bit of a quandary.

Signed up for Virgin Media about 6 weeks ago. So can’t freely cancel the contract, so it’s €150 to cancel.

Plus I entered into a 2 year contract.

However here’s the crux of the matter. On 31st May I’m due to receive €105 credit into my account. The only condition I can see is that the contract is still in place for the credit to be made.

So I’m thinking. Order GoMo now and forward date it to the end of June. And don’t give details of my VM. Then phone VM on 1st June and give 30 days notice.

I’m hoping that they’ll then deduct one month €35 leaving €70, and then I’d owe them €80 for the €150 cancellation fee.

Thoughts?

(I know I could continue with VM no biggie but I prefer the Eir ONT which I can directly connect to my Asus. Plus the Eir was flawless and I’ve already had some issues with VM requiring the VM router to be rebooted, at least once a week.

Is a switch mandatory during the signup process, or is it possible to keep both services for a period?

Could I sign up for GOMO and keep my existing Virgin Broadband for a period to give myself time to cable the outside of my house, so I can have my GOMO router on my desk and then cancel Virgin myself?

I know I would have 2 bills for a brief time, but I could live with that, seeing that I would still end up with a reasonable fixed price for life.

They’re different fibre networks so you absolutely could keep both at once.

It would be both IPv4 & IPv6 as it's eir, no CGNAT or DS-Lite.

Ordered today, then in mygomo account it only allowed me to go forward to June 15th. I'll be contacting them 2 morrow as thats not what they said. So if that's the story, I'll be cancelling

it's probably a case of it goes ahead one day everyday. So you'd probably have to select June for now and then in June, select a date in July. I don't know how long they'd let you do that for though.

I got my eir router on my desk a few years ago. I had drilled the ceiling where I wanted the cable to drop from the attic. Give the engineer the easiest possible install and they will oblige.

I'm not getting your logic here. If you get the 105 credit and then break the contract they'll charge you the 150 and also look for the 105 back. I did two reboots in three days of that terrible black modem, that was it for me I cancelled straight away and went back to Pure.

Yes I'm wondering if they can actually look for the €105 back though? I don't see anything in the contract that stipulates this. Just that I need to have paid monthly up until the end of May, and then they credit my account with €105.

Anyhow will probably try it and see. If they look for it back I'll certainly argue the point!

According to the chat I had today, they said it can be done indefinitely,but not recommended. Probably is some limit, I pushed it to June 16th ( must be 30 days max you can push it out) and set my calender to push out again on June 1st and every two weeks after that.. See how far I can get , hope to get close to October when my existing eir contract ends

I don't know tbh, the Pure router just kept working and when the Gomo router arrived I just switched them over. Being on the Eir network I'd say it's eircom@eircom.net and broadband1

I'm sorry I completely misread your post. Everything Gomo is identical to Eir, the Eir website is very good for tutorials etc. Anyway, to actually answer the question you asked, login is admin which is already filled in and can't be edited, password is the WiFi password and the router access is 192.168.1.254.
