It was actually a very poor piece of goalkeeping. His footwork was terrible, which meant he was out of position and made what should have been a straight forward save much more difficult than it should have been.
Now that's a load of bull$hit. Gruss could have gone to the right or left of Darlow.
There was no "out of position" until Gruss took the shot.
The best place for Darlow to stand before the shot was slightly to the right because of where Rodon was positioned. And that's what he did. Goalkeeping 101.
Pathetic reaching hyperbole.
Thats pretty unfair. He managed to get a vicious swerve on the shot and Darlow started off moving in the direction it started on. I thought he did well to change direction so late.
Speaking of keepers….A very sad end for Meslier. Such a pity we didn't get a proper goalkeeping coach in earlier for him. There are such high stakes now you nearly need specialist coaches for defence, attack, midfield, keepers set, pieces.
I remember we had to get a defensive coach especially for Rio Ferdinand as he was prone to lapses in concentration.😫
A sad end for him. A model professional who never threw his toys out of the pram and always showed up even after a howler ready to go again. That breakthrough season he was great and I think the club did him a disservice by not signing a backup/competition to take the pressure off him and let him learn at his own pace.
Great way to end the home season by stealing the win at the very end. In fairness, we defended really well considering we were missing Bogle, Struijk and Gudmunsson. It's only when they're not there that you appreciate what Bogle and Gudmunsson give you going forward. Bijol was immense as were Rodon and Justin.
Hope we can keep everyone we want to keep and add three or four and we can push on a little bit next season. I know we scored plenty of late goals ourselves, but if we just held our nerve in some of the games we conceded late, we could realistically have finished 9th or 10th which would have been massive considering what we spent.

As I said previously, I feel that goalkeeping can be a very instinctive player. I think that while a coach can fine tune aspects, you generally work off instincts.
For crosses, a keeper will either be a catcher or a puncher. For open play, they will either sweep out or stay in their box and close the angles. For shot stopping, they either try to stop and hold or commit and push around the post.
Meslier at times seemed to be between options, and therefore didn't do one thing or the other !!!
It's a sad end for Meslier alright. It's a pretty ruthless gig at this level, especially for goalkeepers, although they're well remunerated for it! I hope the lad finds a club where he can recover his form and confidence as he comes across as a very likeable character. He does seem to have divided opinion amongst fans. Some think he is a really talented goalie who can go on to much greater things under the right setup, others think he is simply not good enough for this level. Personally I don't know. He made some ridiculous saves for us, top drawer, but I always got the impression that our defence were never fully comfortable when he was behind them. You could see the difference when Darlow got a run in goal. Whether that is down to his lack of experience or what, time will tell I guess.
That picture is sad, but he regressed so badly in the Championship that his howlers nearly cost us promotion dropping points late in games against Sunderland and Hull in winning positions.
Joe Rodon was a whisker away from kicking his ass on a few occasions last season and the season before.
There was always a mistake in him. Bad positioning, butter fingers, too easily bullied off the ball, never commanding in the box on crosses, indecisive as whether to punch or to catch costing us on many occasions. Everything that Darlow is not.
His starting position is good. From there it should have been a comfortable save. However he completely misjudged the flight of the ball, when he had a clear sight of it. He gets his feet in a tangle and ultimately does well to save it, but if it had gone in it would have been a howler.
He recalculated based on the curve of the ball which is hard to predict. If he didn't recalculate and stretch, it would have been a goal.
Outstanding save. The guys on Sky were raving about it. They weren't saying "He got away with that one".
Putting up three still photos ain't going to convince anybody of your argument. Bizarre point of view to say it was "a poor piece of goalkeeping". Keep digging.

It's a shambles from start to finish. For what it's worth I think the decision to remove Southampton is correct. I'd reckon it was far more widespread than we're hearing and may explain how the new manager with the same players managed to completely turn it around.
Was listening to Propaganda on TSB yesterday and one Saints fan said "do you think that the only 3 times we were caught were the only time we did it?"
Absolutely no doubt that they've done it far more than three times. This is like someone being charged with 100 burglaries, but they're found guilty of the 1 or 2 sample charges they've admitted to. I genuinely feel sorry for the Saints fans, who did nothing wrong, because the punishment is monumental, but the club's actions left the EFL with no choice. Can't see the manager keeping his job for too much longer.
If the club stands by their manager, then it smacks of their authorization / approval

Talks of a ban of between 6-18 months. The worst thing for Saints fans is that it's a second year in the Championship with a massive drop in parachute payments. As we found out the hard way you can get away with one year down there but year 2 means cutbacks.

We can finish anywhere between 11th and 15th. Part of me wants to finish as high as possible obviously but another part would love to see Spurs go down. It's a pity Everton are in such bad form currently.
Final day always throws up a few surprises, we could win 5-0 or lose 3-0 but if we do lose I hope it keeps the Hammers up. Everton are patchy but Spurs home record is bad also. If WHam stay up I can see them stay around the same places again next season whereas I could see Spurs rising the table. We need as many teams to be below us as possible next season as it's vital we start to establish ourselves in the PL. I'd snap your hand off for a comfortable 15th for the next few seasons and build fom there.

Unfortunately it was the pessimistic of your predictions. Real end of season effort from us today, just a shame it sounds like it was the same from Everton.
I wouldn't be so sure that Spurs will be better next season, the club is a bit of a mess but anyway, 14th is an excellent finishing position for us and hopefully we can get some business done before the World Cup starts as most business will stop once that starts.
Luckily done our business weeks ago if anything was riding on that with the injuries 😑, food for thought on out squad building in the Summer….been relatively lucky with injuries but it doesn't always work out that way
And Sunderland end up with thurs night Euro slog, good luck with that they'll need it…it's not done mid table teams much favours in recent times
