Went to El Grito last night for the first time.
Staff were very friendly, service was quick and the food was delicious. I got 3 tacos (one pastor, one chicken, one chorizo) The food is all cooked to be mild then you can add the heat yourself with one of their 4 sauces. Will definitely be back
Went to a new place in donacarney, on the way to bettystown, forge and bellows yesterday. Same crowd has the farm cafe place going into terminfeckin. Sweet Jesus the roast beef I could literally eat every day for the rest of my life n die a happy man! E20 n not scabby with the beef. E10 for desert n coffee, that was epic too. Don't sell pints there tho, long necks, g n t's etc
Small place so I considered not leaving this review in case it gets too busy to get a table!
5 good things on Laurence Street
16.95 for this breakfast
Was very good indeed!
Children's breakfast was very good too
I see Matt the Threshers is still going strong, car park looks busy whenever I pass by in Julianstown. Might give it a try. Any recent reports from anyone?
Was there a week ago. Car park absolutely rammed. But didn’t seem to be that many inside.
Proper expensive, but the grub is nice.
My friend is recommending we go to BruHub on narrow West Street. Anyone been?
I went to El Grito there the other week... Was awful. Terrible really. Completely dry food, total lack of flavor. Virtually no fresh herbs. No lime! 1/10.
Had a good experience in a couple of the old reliables on West St recently, Nellys and Il Forno . Well prepared, fresh and decent service in both establishments.
Aisha's Bistro gone? Their facebook page has autoresponse setup to that effect! Truly sad if true. This was our favourite place in town and we have been there countless times - great food, value and it was such friendly, family run place!
Fair play to the glenside, only down a few days after the massive fire. Carvery still going, don't think the dining room a la carte back yet.
Definitely looks like it is gone now, sign on the shop front is down now. Was our favourite too, great when you wanted really good grub for a takeaway.
I think the owner was Lebanese, so he or some of the family may have got caught up in the war over there.
I presume they mean Graft, in which case, its top notch taste wise but portion sizes can be a bit small. Had tempura prawns a couple of weeks ago & they were delish!
A late reply to this post, but for info, Henry's restaurant is open - it's only the function room that's gone
Visited Honky Tonky the bank holiday weekend.
Smash burgers and chips were lovely, as were the staff and venue.
Apparently they have karaoke on Fridays too.
Only opens towards the weekend though..
Is that behind the Garda station?
Aww, I'm so sad about Aisha's. I only got to go once and it was amazing. I hope the people who worked there manage to find jobs.
Went for Sunday lunch to Forge and Bellows today. Really tasty food and pretty good value at 20 euro mains
Where is that, louis?
In Donacarney village Co meath
Thanks Louis, must add it to the list!
Forge and Bellows is a tasty spot alright.
Yup, thats the one
Had a yummy dinner tonight in Greenmount House on Scarlet St. They do a steak special on Thursdays, 15 euro gets you a steak (6 or 8 Oz, can't remember), with chips, pepper sauce or garlic butter and onion rings.
The place was buzzing! Booking required, Thursdays from 4 - 8pm only.
I couldnt go to a place with a silly made up name like that-leaves an impression of pretentious overpriced food.
I live about 5 mins away and have a voucher. The name is also putting me off. But then everywhere needs a name - Tribe, Ariosa, Navy, Matt the Thresher, Willow and Wisp, Mr Roccos - where's the line 🤣
No problem.
Savage value there.
Went to donegans for the first time in years last Friday. Had heard the place was f@cked- no one going, too dear etc.
The place was rammed at 5.30 Friday, scampi delicious. Food out pronto, nice Guinness etc etc.
I won't be waiting years to go back anyway
We went last night table booked for 6 30 pm we left at 7.40 as I had to be somewhere not having had our main course. Yes it was busy but there seemed to be no system in place for serving the food or tables. People who came in a good bit after us were ordering dessert and we still hadnt got our mains. The dishes from our starter were left on our table for over half an hour. We wont be back. Very disappointed. We had been there 2 weeks ago and we were in and out within 45 minutes.
That's a shame whelan2, victim of its own success already or a temporary glitch (short staffed)? Their new venue, The Weavers, opens this weekend, maybe a distraction?
Any Restaurant I've been to each of the waiting staff would be assigned a certain area which they look after, this wasn't the case last night. I'd to go up to the counter to see what the story was . We waited 15 minutes for a waitress to walk by and there was none going by our table.
