Today was definitely ' A wet and windy May fills the Barns with hay' day.
we never got a drop of rain. Seemed to rain few miles. It lashed rain but still a dust bowl here. Can still see the fertiliser sitting go on the ground. And some lawn seed I threw on the lawn 2 weeks ago.

Cold and wet here today in Kildare, more like February than May, lots of strong NW wind yesterday, very little growth
giving a warm spell to come in next Wednesday and to last a week to 10 days

Usually. Except for last year possibly or was it September, either way, it didn't work on one occasion.
Conditions definitely improving then but will still be showers so not hay time yet.
Same situation in NW Tabby as in Kildare…..any ground that had stock on it and is stripped a week or more has feck all fresh new grass coming😢

was in the Gaelic Grounds earlier…I've been to national league games that have had milder weather, came home and got totally soaked checking the cattle

Very poor day, hard to believe but soil temps are still above normal and we actually need some rain to cover the soil moisture defecits in the ground. I definitely will not miss that dirty cold wind though. Luckily warmer air is coming in the next two to three days.
Rain wasn't as bad here in the south east as the forecast was saying.

Going by the farming commentary most places needed a bit of rain. Up to Sunday there was little to no rain here in the mid west anyway.
