New thread start!:)
Stonewall penalty denied yesterday but we were responsible for our own downfall...Looking at the various permutations with teams around us playing each other we can still probably qualify for Europe but need three wins from the final four I reckon..
Two wins could even be enough given the fact that teams constantly taking points off each other. But I have the sense of a season petering out. We wanted mid table comfort after the last few years and we got it. Would still be a little disappointing given the position we had put ourselves in.
where did all that extra time come from ? like every game needs an extra 10 minutes - at least we might have stopped City winning league.
The Haaland goal was farcical defending
Barry is not premier league level
Why hasn't Rohl been playing more
Barry really let us down in those last few minutes. The ball kept coming to him and bouncing off him back to City. He isn't going to make it at the top level
Rohl was very good v villa a few months ago and then barely saw any football for months.
Threw it away last night but should have had a pen at 3-2
At least we are not in relagation battle, team needs one or 2 quality additions, obviously a striker, which will be hard to find , last summers window was good, even though Dibling and Barry seam way of it right now.
Season petering out as I pretty much expected.
Our season ended v Liverpool. Great chance to get European football thrown away the last 4 games
We dont have the squad yet for Europe , some proper additions in summer, obviously a 9 and we can dream more.
Jesus, why the negativity? It’s our first stable season in a while, which is a huge step forward.
Great stadium, finances balanced, squad improving and we could finish top half. I’m happy with that.
I would agree, where we came from just 2 years ago, serious progress has been made, we could be under 777 in the Championship !!!
A couple of serious additions in summer and we can take next step.
The problem is Europe would have funded some squad uplift that won't happen now.
Unfortunately, some of our better players are up for contract renewals shortly so we may need to spend just to stay still.
Heard a rumour we have 150m to spend this summer. Qualifying for Europa or conference is only worth about 20m max
Worse still, qualifying for Europe means you are held to 70% turnover as opposed to 85%.
Europa or EUFA conference fund feck all, unless you win them. The money is peanuts compared to Champions League.
Pays for Rohl, Grealish and George. Maybe room for a striker if we sell one.
The only one we have to buy is Rohl. Grealish I'm on the fence with. His wages for a season would nearly cover the fee for George
Coleman to finish up at the end of the season
I'm actually surprised at how saddened I am
Yeah, he's been great for Everton and even more so for Ireland. Hopfrully he is kept on as coach, think he could be a good one, better than Andrews maybe . he's struggled to get back to the levels after that horrific injury against Wales, but always had a good performance in him, particularly Ireland.
I see they offered him a coaching job but he wants to keep his options open. I wonder will he play a final season in the LOI.
Farewell video for those who haven’t seen it
.. 😭
I'm not crying, you're crying!
Can't cope with the nostalgia. Coleman obviously but a lot of those players.
£138.56 per game is what he cost Everton. Some bargain.
Definite manager potential, maybe learn the trade under Moyes, or maybe under Heimir with Ireland ??
If you ignore the 3m a year we are paying him in wages
Not suggesting he needs to go but I can’t see Moyes still being in a job at Christmas. Shocking form since the Chelsea win. He takes the plaudits when things go well needs to accept criticism when it turns.
That was bleak today. For all the talk of progress we only have one point more than last season
