Suppose we need a new one… Roll on Feb 6th!
Got that this afternoon
did you email them enquiring that or did they just email you out of the blue?
Its just a generic email sent out I would not read to much into it.
Sent to stop applicants already in the system reapplying again which would create more work for vetting. .
I didn’t get that email!
What stage of the process are you at?
Have You done everything and are waiting on vetting to be completed?
This email is the one I got......
Me?? I've got everything done just waiting for vetting
yeah everything done since middle of Feb. Just awaiting the vetting
Edsjd227 is from 24 campaign cdub&200 are you from 25 campaign? .
There are loads of others from both 24 &25 campaigns still waiting did many others get the email?
Its just a standard email saying that the new recruitment drive is open but your application is still under review so you dont need to apply again
yeah from sept 25. I’d imagine it’s nothing to worry about, I might email anyways and see what they say
You'll get a generic email saying vetting ongoing...…did that last year meself and got that
Feck that so. I’ll just carry on waiting !
I’m from the Sept 2025 campaign as well and I never got the email. I have everything done since Feb too
Hi anyone waiting on medical sign off? If so how long does it take approx? Thanks
welcome to my world......applied 26 months ago.....know of someone who is waiting since 2022
Can take a while..…8 weeks or so....the medical AND substance misuse test take ages
I think you mentioned you had a second station interview a while back. Was that similar to the first? Anything the ask that was left field at all?
Do you know of anyone who has been waiting that long and actually get an offer at the end of it?
……
Can I re apply for the new competition even though I am still in the September 25 competition??
Maybe check with them. Last thing youd want is your application to go all the way back to the begining and you have to do everything again
I rang today to ask should I reapply & they said no as my application was ongoing
Yeah it is......had forgotten a couple of interactions with gardai so went over them and rest was similar to one with Sgt. And Inspector
Dont go into detail, but are these interactions that were recorded on you that wouldn't have led to convictions, ie, being with someone, or in wrong place at the wrong time.
And how did the conversation play out, if they were old observations on you, just curious, were you asked for your side of the story and that was that?
1 could have led to court if I hadn't sorted it at the time, another was simply being a witness to something and another was a small issue which the inspector said "ah well, that's ok" when I explained what the issue was.......Superintendent said the same when I explained everything as well
Does anyone actually know what the longest length of time anyone was waiting on vetting to clear and eventually got an offer?
Well that theory could easily be proved or disproved by somebody confirming that they had received a firm rejection letter. I know most might not like to post about that and the disappointment etc but back in my day you did receive such rejection letters.
Just for your info it took me five years to get in. Done my first entrance exam in 1978 - failed maths. Applied again for new recruiting campaign in 1980. In that campaign once you had passed your leaving certificate with English, Irish and maths + two other subjects you did not need to do the entrance exam. Then failed first medical. Waited ages to be called back for new medical in 1982 - passed that. Started in Templemore January 1983. Done 31 years in total - the last 15 as a sergeant.
So never give up - unless your firmly rejected and informed in writing as such.
I just wonder are they aware how many people are actually waiting on vetting, surely they should be employing more people to get through the backlog, its not fair everyone is in limbo,no commuication at all,our lives are just on hold. Then all the new campaigns and others getting in quicker,
Its nice to get some information from a former member who spent such a considerable amount of time in the force ,I hope you're enjoying Retirement.
Things have moved on considerably since you started in Templemore no doubt particulary in terms of technology.
I can see the theory of woundering how it can possibly take so long to complete vetting especially as mentioned with the click of a button and modren technology information appears instantly and with the Gardai been part of the same Data Base that all European Police Forces use for shearing intelegence and other information that is shared between the Police Forces,it certainly makes you wonder.
Compares to PSNI and UK Police Forces as a guide they say in cases that are complex vetting can take a bit longer in some cases up to 6/7 months, this time frame is dwarfwed compared to time frames some candidates are stating they have been waiting here.
Proberly the most discussed topic here on this forum is the lack of information regarding vetting every candidate has expressed frustration. Despite the assurances from the Minister for Justice that the vetting advisory group who were tasked with compiling a report, on how vetting could be improved and a complete overhaul implemented, things have remained the same and it seems as if there is no desire to change the current model.
