I'm not sure how quick they ship the router if you're doing a self-install. I needed a tech to complete the install, and he had the router with him which was around two weeks after I placed the order as that's the schedule that suited me best.
Virgin Media will want to install/use their own FTTP/coax if that's available to you.
If you have Virgin FTTP currently with Vodafone/Sky/Digiweb, there still will probably be an engineer appointment to remove the ONT and install the integrated ONT Hub 5x.
If they're not available, they'll install/use SIRO/NBI. They don't use open eir.

I have given my notice too Virgin as tired of messing if I need to open a port for plex, can’t change the DNS, no modem mode and if I try and just use Deco M4 for WIFI I get crap speeds, then have to spilt WIFI as “smart” Rointe radiators can’t see a network if combined.
I was thinking Vodafone as I like the sound of it creating like a dummy 2.4 WIFI inside the combined WIFI, but then the virgin media cancelation agent said to be careful with them (could just say well that’s him trying to get you too stay)
Looking and people said try out Irish providers, for one better customer care etc, put in my Eircode too digiweb and siro comes up, check siro website and we can’t get it.
Do I continue on with Vodafone or what would people suggest? Thanks
Got it, I used VM back to 2024, it is on the wall ( i did many times myself) shold not need tech.

Their FTTP might now be available to be installed in your area, just double check Virgin's website.
If 2Gb/5Gb is showing when you enter your eircode on Virgin's website, FTTP will be installed.

Are you currently on Virgin FTTP? You can switch between Digiweb, Vodafone and Sky with Virgin FTTP. An engineer will need to come out to install an external ONT.

Thank you for the advice. This is exactly what happened in 2025 when I placed my order with Virgin Media (VM). My postcode was listed as available for FTTP, however, after five engineers visited my apartment, none of them were able to connect the cable from the street to my unit. This ultimately forced me to switch to Vodafone (VD) in 2025. Following more than ten complaint calls regarding the error with my postcode, Vodafone eventually updated my postcode last year and the issue has since been fully resolved. now only those two showed up :)
Yep that's Virgin FTTP. You can get Digiweb through Virgin FTTP.
You can switch between Virgin, Vodafone, Sky and Digiweb currently with Virgin FTTP. There should be a UAN, I'm not sure if it's on the bill or you'd have to ask, to switch between the providers.
Digiweb usually provide Zyxel routers afaik, they no longer provider FritzBox. Zyxel DX3301-T0 or Zyxel EE3301-T0.

Have you checked the Sky website, it should be €30pm for 12 months.
Digiweb customer service would be better in my experience than Sky and Vodafone.

It looks on the face of it a great offer. €29 is about as cheap as any and you don't need to worry about April €4 bumps. But you do pay €49 upfront. So first year is more like €34. Plus this in the T&C is worrying. I wonder if this is just to cover and they all have it. Or are you expecting about half the speed you pay for? Yes I'd presume it's just to cover themselves as GPON/XGS-PON is shared. All providers would have similar wording.
eir themselves state -
Maximum - 92.5% / Normally Available - 55% - 65% / Minimum - 10%
And I nearly always had the full advertised speed with eir.
They're just covering themselves. eir proper do the same thing. You'll get 500Mb download most of the time, especially over a wired connection.

I would assume also it will be a standard router like the Sagemcom F3896LG (or a similar variation) of the eir White Box router.
