All you said was "someone on boards referred to JK Rowling as a writer of children's books". This is factually accurate so without the context, it's very hard to see why it is so objectionable. We've only your word for it that this is somehow a gross misrepresentation.

"a writer of children's books"is not clearly meant as a substitute for "a person of no consequence". I dont know if its projecting their own thoughts on the writer.

I'm confused. There are a lot of children in the world and they deserve books as much as anyone. How is someone being labelled a children's author a bad thing?

Without the original post, the context is completely lost as it could be interpreted in a couple of different ways.

Good find. That is a bit disappointing, misrepresenting someone on another thread. I dont think JK Rowling would be offended by being called a writer of childrens books or Rory McIlroy being introduced as a golfer or Linehan a comedy writer. Its all a bit silly.

I just found out about a horrifying thing in the UK called clean-up crews. They prey on young women and people like Linehan could use their platforms to bring attention to issues like this but they won't.
I wonder if it's a certain controversial comment from myself. If memory serves, she was talking down to the rest of us from her actual castle. I also remember someone going through my history to dig up a comment of mine from 2015 about wanting to meet her.

It shouldn't be an insult, but that post was definitely intended in that way. IIRC when challenged the poster doubled down with some more disparaging remarks.
They didn't write it in that context. It was more like "those gender critical views, as expressed by a failed comedian and a writer of children's books, are not worthy of consideration". I'm paraphrasing heavily.
I just mentioned it to give another example of diminishing someone's achievements. The point in relation to Linehan stands - albeit he cuts a sad figure nowadays he has achieved a lot in his lifetime. His stance in speaking the truth is admirable, despite his unsavoury way of expressing his opinions. I wonder if JK could give him a few Twitter lessons.
You have made a claim about a post that you could either be misrepresenting or simply misremembering. Calling her a writer of children's books isn't inherently in some way offensive.

Rowling set up a rape crisis centre for women, so she's someone who clearly is interested in protecting women. Gaines and Davies have campaigned on behalf of women in sport so clearly they are interested in protecting women aswell.
