New Munster chat thread folks. warning deserved there. https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=109477571#post109477571
I think it could be Salanoa, Smith, Kilgallen, Butler & Patterson, Abrahams, Ala'Alatoa. could be more, happy to get more info on this.
I think Butler & Patterson are being let go and Abrahams is off to the Bulls.
If we are keeping Hanrahan and getting rid of Butler our coaching staff need to pay closer attention
yea, he's signed on until June 2027
Tom Wood needs to be getting some game time now.
Butler has been very weak this season, looks completely lacking in confidence (and ability as a result).
It's hard to judge him given how little we've seen, but that itself probably means he's done. If he's not trusted to be emergency cover in URC games, might as well just move on.
But he hasn't been given a chance really either. Whereas JJ seems to be the second in line to Crowley and has far less capabilities as a player
Butler has shown one half game where he looked decent. He hasn't shown he's worth keeping.
JJ is contracted for another year. And wood needs game time. It makes s nose to cut butler at this point.
Management obviously don't trust him. They don't trust JJ either but JJ has a contract.
Both of them are hostages to how poorly Munster played in some of our games this season. It also seems like that the player that isn't playing is seen as the better of the two because the guy playing has errors in their game
The coaches are watching these guys all the time and if they aren't making match day squads that's all you need to know.
He gets a chance in training. And when you have limited opportunities you have to really grab them and he has done the opposite.
I don't understand the glazing of Butler. From what I've seen of them both, JJ is just a better player. Ultimately neither of them are good enough for the role you want them for though.
Ah ya JOD brings great exoperience and leadership. The same experience and leadership and standard setting that saw us getting hammered by Exeter and Ulster this season.
It drives me mad when we value the experience and leadership of Scannell and Wych and John Ryan and JOD but we lose games anyway, i would have preferred to play SeanE or Foy off the bench v Exeter and lose rather than seeing JOD plodding along.
The whole team lost that game, including Crowley, Casey, Beirne etc. That's just lazy thinking.
Ryan was signed as a break glass back up TH.... unfortunately we had to break all the glass given injuries.
Fineen is a very solid to good SR. I suggest you want some of his games back - his stats are actually really positive, he's just not showy.
Couldnt agree more with this
The big difference is that Butler is young and can grow from what some might consider a weak position. JJ, in contrast, has consistently shown an inability to play as we need him to over the years.
So yeah an older player who clearly isn't capable of performing vs a younger player who has shown an ability but might need more development time. There's only ever one that should be kept in my books
Butler is 24 and when has he shown this ability?
They clearly don't think he is ever going to make it and, more to the point, I struggle to understand why people think otherwise. The judgement of Butler seems to be based on nothing other than not liking the players ahead of him, but he himself has shown nothing in his limited chances to suggest a mistake is being made.
when has he shown this ability?
Man of the match V Argentina. Aside from that he hasn't had many chances
It's true that the coaching staff at Munster don't believe in him but they have shown in the past to have been incorrect on their judgements
Multiple coaching staffs at Munster haven't believed in him. And in the chances in actual competitive matches he has had he has not been good.
Coughlan next to be extended by the looks of the socials
3 different coaching set ups clearly don't trust him...thats enough for me.
The fact they'd prefer Billy burns & JJ consistently over him also says enough.
I would prefer Tom Wood to get the game time nxt season
Two year extension to 2028. I'd say with this and the O'Donavon signing that means Patterson will be released.

Roger Randle’s controversial move to Munster set to be cancelled
Ya, that's been mooted for some time now. Patterson looked the business at the start with us but never came back to his best post injury.
Coughlan has obviously shown enough to keep - albeit with lots of work ons.
The same 3 coaching setups that gave us an overall severely weakened team during their tenures. Forgive me if I don't trust their opinion
I dont know what this means for McMillan other than chaos. CEO will have to walk after this.
Genuinely amazed that it got to this point in the first place.
On what planet did Munster and the IRFU think they'd get away with this.
Announced shortly after the season ticket holders renewal period. It surely can't be a coincidence
Not picking a fight but what do you mean get away with it. Am i missing something that you've seen
coincidence. Uptake was very good
If this news about Randles contract cancelled, I would be very disappointed.
Know nothing MAGA type idiots acting judge and jury via social media.
If it was announced before ST Renewal deadline you'd be on here saying it surely can't be a coincidence.
