This looks interesting. Promising huge range and efficiency apparently. first drives under camouflage are out. Reveal is September.
(3) Drives better than any other EV?! All-new BMW iX3 Neue Klasse 2026 first ride! - YouTube
I Drove BMW's Next Generation Car... and I WANT ONE!
Oh and just to stay on-topic with the iX3, it's not built in China either:
https://www.bmwgroup.com/en/news/general/2025/series-production-of-the-BMW-iX3.html
Thank god for that!
Yes, if you look really carefully at the very complicated chart I posted in my last post, I know it's very hard to decode, but you might be able to see that Coopers are still built in China, and are planned to transition to the UK plant this year.
Now given the components (they're specifically LAN transformers, which I believe are used in internet connectivity within a vehicle) in that article you linked were discovered in the US in January 2024, this means that they were in non-EV BMW Group vehicles. Which means they're likely in your 5-series too.
They are, however, far less likely to be in my July 2024 Countryman given that the issue had already been discovered months before my car was even in production 😅
Oh and they're almost certainly NOT in any iX3 produced in 2026.
By the by, although in a previous post you alluded to "your last postings about Chinese buying morals" in a very sneering way, I would point out that I've never actually passed judgement on anyone who buys a Chinese-made or Chinese-built car.
I personally prefer to avoid them for my own quality preferences and for moral reasons, but with the cost of everything else in the world right now, unlike you I'm not about to sneer at someone who buys a BYD or any other Chinese brand. Especially if it's yet another petrol or diesel car off the road.
😂😂😂
Sneer at BYD buyers, as I jump into a Seal. With working dashcam. You know the one you said doesn’t exist. You should stop spreading misinformation on n things you have t researched or googled.
I do forever sneer at people who try play the higher moral ground and then buy a BYD or VW or any other brand. They all have closets. They all have skeletons in them……
Try harder lad.
Anyway, back to the iX3, another Bjorn video from today where he tries to drive it until it is empty - good news is that it's easily recoverable (doesn't brick when empty) and did about 50km after hitting 0.
What car bricks when reaching 0%? A leaf over 10 years old can be driven to 0, die then just plugged back in. Whats new about that?
In case anyone is wondering which cars were bricked (according to Bjorn) when they hit 0%, it's right there in the spreadsheet in the video:
Ze Germans did…. 😮
Ran my Model Y down to -3% last year.
Nervy but I knew there was buffer there.
I done it with a leaf back in 2015. Haven’t done it since.

It is a pity that we cannot get a nicer interior, better ambient lights etc on the Euro cars. It can't cost that much more for BMW surely?
Big difference between keeping the Americans happy and then just lumping the Europeans with whatever they want to!
The US fleet get so many additional extras including simple things such as screen mirroring on many of their cars for years now!
Just such a vast market to crack!
The model linked is for the Chinese market, not the American market.
iX3 LWB will be available in the US Market 👍
I think those changes are largely for the rear passenger seats, as the ambient lighting up front matches what's already available in the EU models - maybe this is something specific with how BMW position themselves in China, perhaps as more of a luxury car to be driven around in rather than something you drive yourself? Definitely seems to prioritise rear-seat luxury anyway.
The white accents with the "Castanea" interior are lovely though, there's no particular reason we shouldn't be able to get those.
Not according to this BMWBlog article from today, but if you have another source, please do share
Yep. Announced late this evening. I’ll post the link now…..
Any sign of that link? it would be very expensive for BMW to make the LWB iX3 in china then import to the USA
Theres a bit of leg pulling going on ;)
Your post was misleading, how can people tell you are "leg pulling"???….less than 24 hours ago you were telling someone in this very thread not to post misleading information….

(1) HAS BMW SCREWED UP? - YouTube
A win for the Tesla. After seeing his individual review as well, it appears Mat is not mad about the iX3
Bjorn did a 1000km motorway test (at near freezing) and some interesting stats:
I would have expected him to drool over the BMW compared to the Tesla as he was very critical of Tesla in the past, despite his mother driving one.
Still though, it’s not a real comparison IMO, a Model Y is a class below the iX3 in terms of luxury and price (€45k V €73k), whether it’s worth the difference is subjective alright.
Tesla better braking power too, that I was surprised at but the iX3 at 100mph + keeps pulling compared to the Tesla.
The Audi doesn’t even enter the equation unfortunately other than stopping power.
One thing that stood out to me, in that base spec the ix3 is not a good looking car, needs m sport and big wheels, interesting test all the same especially his views on interior quality.
The q6 is a downgrade on the discontinued etron / q8 despite the ridiculous original pricing.
Saw a transporter full of these heading down to Cork on the motorway yesterday, I assume customer deliveries are in swing now then?
Most current BMW models need M Sport or M Sport Pro trim levels to look anyway decent. The Q6 despite being overpriced and smaller than the fat e-Tron/Q8 should be a lot more efficient and hopefully more reliable. (Assuming that Audi have learnt from their previous motor failure issues)
I said the same from the very start, on this thread too. Msport Pro is where it’s at IMO.
Obviously this is all very subjective anyway, but I think this all depends very much on the paint colour - imo with the darker colours the difference between the trims isn't noticeable.
I couldn't be doing the M Sport Pro because the interior choices become very boring, I would want that Castanea orange.
What Model Y are you comparing at 45k??? But even with realistic Tesla pricing, it is still significantly cheaper than the iX3. The upcoming base iX3 will be closer in price and range. He didnt mention the 400v disadvantage though, that will mean significantly slower charging at a lot of chargers.
Half a car length is well inside the margin for error in those tests. Yanni is well known for cheating too. There are too many variables with his tests to take them as verbatim. Tyre and brake temperatures before the test make a huge difference.
