Tesla Model 3 RWD LR vs Kia EV4 GT line

Hi, looking to switch from my Golf to EV(Wife is already driving Inster), cannot decide between M3 RWD LR vs Ev4 GT Line.

M3 - drove the standard model twice(LR not available at self drive facility) and like it a lot, it's very different though.

EV4 - no test drive yet, only seen it in showroom. It felt like a regular with stalks, buttons, etc, interior seemed pretty good quality.

M3 would be new car and EV4 less the then year old. Will be trading my Golf for both, got a decent trade in offer from Tesla + 2k bonus(9k with Tesla, 7k for KIA).

How does the ADAS systems compare between them? KIA would come with all their systems, M3 would be the basic. Is the M3 EAP worth it? Demo car had the FSD on it so not sure what difference would it make on day to day basis.

Boot is smaller on EV4 but if parcel shelf is removed it should take 2 large luggages, at least hope so.

On one hand I like the minimalistic interior, large screen, acceleration etc of Tesla but when I sat in the EV 4 it all felt very familiar.

M3 owners - is the passanger seat hight adjustable? On screen adjustment had only backwards/forwards, tilt and wife felt it was very uncomfortable.

Warranty is better with KIA, range bit better with Tesla.

EV4 is 2.5k cheaper, PCP rates are similar but like the 4 years option with Tesla.

Consensus from Tesla owners would be don't bother with the Enhanced Auto Pilot or FSD at the moment.

I use autopilot every day and works well on dual carriage ways, motorways, heavy traffic etc...

My parents have a Kia and never use the cruise control and switch off the safety lane centering on every drive as they find it very aggressive and dangerous on country roads.

Have you considered any other cars? The face-lift Ioniq 6 is gorgeous but if the boot is too small the Ioniq 5 is more Golf shaped but much bigger.

M3 boot there is pretty large, similar to B7 Passat estate. If you care about it this is one of stronger advantages of Tesla.

If you are OK with standard RWD then I would consider if paying nearly 9k more for eco leather, more speakers, extra screen, larger battery etc is worth it.

Everyone seems to be saying EAP is not really worth it here. Re. FSD, 7k its very expensive and even when approved here, 100e per month subscription is still expensive providing they keep the same pricing as Netherlands.

Ya, looked at different cars too. Ionic 5 seems to be suffering with the ICCU issues a lot. Ionic 6 is nice from some angles and bad from others, bit weird design.

I would probably be ok with the range but loss of spec not really. Would have to get used premium RWD.

I was considering an EV6 GT line vs a M3H and ended up with the Tesla.
Same as yourself, it was a year old EV6 (42.5k on 0% HP, was a very good deal, the red colour too) vs a new M3 (37.5k with .99% HP) and once all was said and done, I couldn’t justify the extra money for the EV6, but it still turns my head when I see one.

Have the M3 8 months now, love the car. It is the “premium” version without the stalk and front bumper camera.

What travel have you in mind OP, the Tesla SuC network is heads and shoulders above everything else and expanding a lot this yr, could be a deciding factor if you're undecided

Aren't almost all SuC location in Ireland open to all cars? Birdhill and Castlebellingham being only exceptions. I think new one will also accept non-Tesla cars.

It's not about exclusive access, it's the simplicity of just rocking up and plugging in without anything else required

Almost never out of use and favourable pricing for Tesla owners, and actually not too shabby for non-Teslas either.

I can't really see what more you're getting with the kia, and it's used.

Only thing is if you have dogs/musical instruments/bikes, then hatchback design of kia would be better.

I must have watched all of YouTube on both the M3 and the EV6 at the time and got the help of Boardsies here, I really liked the looks of the EV6 but on the end the M3 was just the better, cheaper and newer car. Kept an extra 5k in the pocket and my only worry at the time was being able to get to Dublin airport and back from Wexford which the standard range does with 20% left on the battery.

You won’t be disappointed, make sure you use a referral code from the Referral thread if you decide to get one. I think you’ll get 1000km free supercharging same as the person who’s referral you’ll use.

Were looking at a Red EV4 up from NI (7 months old GT Spec) for my wife and after test drive and quite a bit of research, she booked Model 3 Standard and expecting to receive the car by end of next month.

Tesla is faster, smoother and handles well - hence more enjoyable to drive than Kia which looks and feels better from inside/outside, however it was used and no 0.99% offer on the used one. Wished Tesla were still offering Premium in LFP battery pack but think its not coming back anytime soon.

Tesla have doubled referral miles (2000km of free supercharging) if you book by tomorrow in case you're interested.
