Going to order a crate of hardwood soon and was looking at Boyles, just wanted to ask here if their logs aren't too big? I've a stove so anything over about 11 inches won't fit in it
their logs are around 25cm if memory serves me. Check with Luke there, he’s sound

So they've been taking people's money for the past two years by selling stock they never had and doing their best to withhold refunds. In a shock to nobody they don't have the money to repay people and now they're allowed to enter a protected period where they can remain operating and continue taking people's money. Dafuq?
I've small enough stove and Boyles have been grand, if there's a big lump I'll throw it in half way through when embers are red. Turn up the air a bit to get it lightning and not smouldering

Never good to see a local business in difficulties, it not only affects the owners but staff and local suppliers. Otoh, Rathwood have had issues for a few years so they should have dealt with the problems sooner. It’s really not good enough to take money from people when they knew they had supply issues. Hopefully they’ll survive for the staff jobs.
I don’t know enough about it all, but my impression is the 2 young “whizz kids” took over a decent family business and thought they were cleverer than they were and it all has come unstuck now. Once you start fcukin around a loyal customer base publicly it destroys a business
Ah yes, wondered if that was it because it’s hard to see how a 30+ year old successful family business went so badly wrong.
I'm sure the two of them are still driving around in big cars and living in big houses.
Used them a few years back. Was mostly Larch and had to be dried in the hot press.
Importantly for those affected:
Customers are advised that payments and refund requests relating to orders placed prior to 24 April 2026 cannot be processed at this time. These matters will be addressed as part of the court-supervised process, and further updates will be provided in due course.
I would be putting a chargeback request in with my creditcard provider. They may delay until this is resolved but no point wasting time on your side.
Nobody that posts on here should be affected I hope. Repeated warnings about their shenanigans for the guts of two years now.

So Rathwood are pulling another fast one on customers. They are not in Examinership as previously stated, but in SCARP.
The Irish Times reports today:
However, the company has not applied to the High Court for an examiner to be appointed and instead lodged papers with the Companies Registration Office on Friday evening outlining its engagement with the Small Company Administrative Rescue Process (Scarp).
Scarp was introduced four years ago as an affordable formal insolvency process for small businesses facing financial difficulties. It is similar to examinership but quicker, cheaper and requires less court oversight, but any restructuring agreed between creditors and a company needs judicial approval.
prob if you were buying firewood and reading about it all here but I’d say a hell of a lot of people would be buying stuff like their garden furniture with fairly hefty price tags

Seems the SCARP process was "halted over the weekend" according the IT and the company is now in formal examinership.
Hard to see how they can keep going normally during this time- especially the times we are in, credit is under massive control in most company. Who would be willing to offer them credit as a supplier? Cash on delivery or else
