Latest thread!
Yes reasonable but not exactly tempting. If I was in the market for one I’d stump up the extra €8K to have a 261/262 new one in my choice of colour/upholstery etc. That light blue isn’t great on them anyway.
They are near €49k on the road. You’re forgetting to add the BYD €2k delivery and add on fee.
Seems to be gone off the site..
Is this MSL tax ? Seems excessive. Might be worth looking up North for 6-12 month old SEAL instead? Assuming no VRT etc. €36K ish should land a fresh RWD model on Irish plates.
What if you want that colour, or just don't care about the colour? An 8k saving (plus a bit more if you don't have a trade in) on an 8 month old car is decent
You've not been following global shipping events ....
I definitely wouldn’t want that colour. Yes it’s an €8K saving but you’re not comparing like with like. A 261/262 in a nice colour will equally be worth €8K more when you go to sell it on or trade it in. As I’ve said previously, I reckon a similar 2025 Seal RWD could be got from N.I for €36K-€37K. 500bhp AWD here for very little extra; https://www.donedeal.ie/view/41939023
Plenty BYD dealers advertising new unregistered SEAL’s for €47K on DoneDeal ??

Doesn't say anything about delivery on the ad. Most of them rarely do until your signing the papers
What global shipping events? The straight of Hormuz is just a dead end in the Middle East used by oil tankers to collect oil. It's not a shipping route and doesn't go anywhere therefore no delays to shipping. I've had around 40 cars shipped to me and none are being delayed.
PRICE LISTED IS MODEL STARTING PRICE AFTER GRANT EXCLUDING METALLIC PAINT
From the ad and assume excl delivery
Many similar ads with a +/- price variance of few hundred euro on DD with other BYD dealers. Would seem like sharp practice if there is an additional delivery charge with all these. It’s one advantage to Tesla, price on the screen is the price you pay.
Lad the cost of fuel for the tankers has gone up over 30 percent.
This isn't new news.
I'll just add that no one said anything about delays. What are you on about
The price of shipping hasn't really increased tho. RoRo prices are stable and containers have only increased by around $300 from Japan to Ireland
Also plenty advertising at €50k.
You need to know that the grant/delivery fees are in or out with different dealers.
The global fuel and shipping events currently ongoing are irrelevant to this conversation though, the MDL/MSL €1950 delivery and related fees have been there since 2024 (initial launch). Even the influencers, nobby, Nevo etc never mention them but they are static cost added to the car, so very misleading advertising the car without them, but they’re all at it.
what has current global shipping events got to do with a MSL/MDL €1950 add on fee which has been in place since the seal launched in Ireland 2 years ago?
That price has increased. It wasn't what I paid. Global shipping is up, fuel costs are up shippers are not absorbing those costs.
€12K Kona 64kWh, high enough miles;

That's an increase! And it's increased again this month btw.
Why am I having to explain this ?you're literally proving my point.
Confused...
Your literally arguing me that costs haven't gone up and then telling us costs are up...
The €1950 price was there since day 1. What is it now?
Your right apologies had to check my receipt could have sworn we paid 1600
2024 BMW i5 £37,495. Is there a bit of a saving on this even if VRT was to be paid on it ? https://www.donedeal.ie/view/42010125
All car manufacturers have delivery fees added to the price they list. So Tesla must be the only ones who do not add that on to the price they list.
They do indeed. it’s there in the breakdown but at least they show the price you pay out the door on the landing page.
I told you RoRo hasn't increased. And BYD have their own RoRo ships, so they're probably just taking a hit on the increased fuel costs. And that has absolutely no correlation to MSL charging a delivery fee. Delivery fee's are from Dublin Port to the dealer, plus prep, valeting, and add ons etc.
Thanks for getting back to the point of this thread 😉
What are people's thoughts on these as a first time EV for my wife. She is sceptical but works from home etc. I can charge in work which is very close by too.
Are they any good? Is the range too short?

As for the sceptical bit, once youve proper access to private charger you're fine. Then its only very rare public charging.
The Peugeot would be fine, but 310 wltp is on the low side. For in around same money an id3 or a kona would do more range
Some level of wear on that steering wheel all the same.
Doesn't bode well for the quality of it tbh. Id expect better even at those KMs.
There are much better EV's out there for €17k
