I was told Australian beef is going into Britain at just over 4e and South American at under 4 e a kilo so I’d say Irish beef at 7 will lower the market share for a good while yet.
Irish beef factories in Ireland and UK importing south American, NZ and Australian carcasses and processing them into saleable supermarket and catering product is the sole reason.
It's best be friendly with the devil when profits are too hard to resist.

Pulling the price will not make cattle appear. The last of the shed cattle will be gone in 3-3 weeks time. There will be very few cattle off grass until mid June. There pulling of the price in March discouraged lads from feeding during April.
unfortunately I don’t think it’s anything to do with supply. The U.K. is being flooded with cheap beef from oz and South America. 3 week wait to get cattle killed in England at moment
Ppl must remember its mostly factories are importing the beef. They are using cheap imports to beat down the Irish and British cattle prices.
I forgot about the World Cup in June. Should have started feeding my outwintered lads last month.

Why are you calling NZ food inferior... I thought Teagasc was holding the NZ model of farming as the best and the way we should be doing things. Seemingly anyone who goes to any aig college is told they should go to NZ to experience the correct way to farm.

Beef will be 5.50 by the autumn they way the job is going and backlogs of getting cattle in. UK under pressure at this time of the year is a very bad sign.

They tried a pull this time last year as well to flush out last of shed cattle. Maybe ot will be more sustained this year. However there will be no flush of grass cattle before early mid July. If I had cattle on grass gaining weight I would not panic
I think you are on the optimistic side Bass, I don't see too many factors pointing to anything of a price rise, they've been disciplined all Spring in managing the kill and seem to only want to work to contracts that they have in place.
unfortunately I’d be inclined to agree with you. There is 3 to 4 weeks delay in getting cattle killed in GB and NI. The price in the U.K. has been pulled for the last four weeks. It dosent appear to be there usual trick of flushing out cattle

I do not do soft sellers or hard sellers, other do that **** you have the wrong person. I may be right, I may be wrong, but I think the numbers available for slaughter in Ireland will drop in the next few weeks. Usually when that happens we see a price rise,maybe I am wrong. It has f@@k all to do with FG or FF or SF either.
UK is in recession, we are heading that way, inflation will shrink spending power but that is 3-6 months away. Interest rates will hit mortgages and borrowings.
It is bad enough UK are heading for recession but they also prefer the price of imported Brazian supplied by Irish meat factories! To top it off they dont even know where it comes from.
Wake up ffg euro mp's even welcomed the fast tracking of mescur .
