None of your business tbh
listen to my podcast if you know what’s good for ya.
Ideally you want a certain amount of hemicellulose in the diet. It's broken down in the lower gut mainly, not the rumen so it gives the opportunity to mop up excess n and keep them less scuttery.
Hay, straw, maize silage, hulls, citrus pulp etc all have quite a bit
why is it now expensive feed, is it because of the wrapping of it .
If you wanted to know what Kerry think of their farmer suppliers you should have gone to the AGM yesterday in Killarney.
Milk suppliers are just pawns to be used in the interest of big business.
I don't understand how anybody could find something positive for farmers in the new milk contract.
That's farming in general. The only modern slaves left in the world.
Expensive vs grass or grass silage like.
was there much noise about the share price at the agm yesterday?
grass is very expensive if it dosnt grow or not grazed at optimal covers ….poor quality grass silage ditto
What concern is Kerry Group share price to the CoOp
No Cheap way of doing it anymore imv. Especially if you want a middling output farm.
Grass is fine for mediocrity. About 500 KgMS. You're buying milk after that.
👍👍line right out of the gospel according to ………
The problem with grass is not really about cost,it's more to do with irish weather, land availability around the parlour and consequently a setups ability to deal with real margin erosion going foward
Unpredictability Could sum up alot of it.
Id be reckoning milk will be in the 50's next year, but what it will cost to produce will mean their wont be a penny made, unless their was a goldelocks year grass/weatherwise like 25 and the meal lorry/fertilizer etc costs could be kept down, all the weather gurus are predicting a drought accross much of the globe this summer
I could see ration creep up ad year goes on price
Is that because you believe the southern hemisphere will cull hard due to the strain of the Iran war, therefore creating shortages?
The fertilizer situation is serious out their but in terms of cost/availability, urea has doubled in price and is at record price levels, milk/grain production in australia will be hit very hard, if the war drags on for another few months the kiwis will be in serious bother too
kiwis have gotten a big windfall from fonterra sale. They won’t be under pressure for money this year or next year even
Weren't you one of the guys telling us that milk was going to be in the 20's this spring...
European milk supply is up over 4%. There is a lot of farm organisations calling for a paid voluntary reduction scheme. I would say the only thing keeping milk up is the uncertainty around the war in Iran. Things could get alot worse very quickly
We might end up dumping it yet
No we end up doing that but the price could tank yet also
Be grand. I was laughing to the contractor i mightnt be able to pay him this year..... at least I warned him!!

NZ article, concerns about milk price. There is still too much volume, worldwide.

Not looking great, if you are hoping for an increase in the next few months
Their first day out on grass this year. Left them off after milking this morning. Left the so called “lame bunch” off 2 days ago. Hopefully the weather will hold for a month or two. All going to plan they’ll be out by night next week
I know you're half messing but was talking to a farmer recently and he couldn't believe his contractor was already looking for money for slurry spread earlier this year already
Butter currently at 4000 a ton, is the biggest worry, smp lifting has helped soften the blow, but it would still only be returning sub 30 c/l, obviously oruna has kerrygold butter to soften the hit, but theirs just to much milk worldwide been pumped out
Know of a big contractor in the midlands currently trying to get a 100k extension on overdraft/short-term loan to cover the hike in diseal costs, he see's the writing on the wall re his custumers not been able to pay as you go
