New discussion for 2026 campaign
How are people being notified of interviews? Call/email/notification via public jobs? Thanks!
Also got this too! I’m absolutely devastated. No idea what I’m going to do for work now long term. This was my last chance at getting work and the thought of waiting another 2 years for an interview or to apply again for the next competition is shattering.
Im so upset !! How did they make a mistake like this ? I dont even understand what they are saying
I haven't received any email about this incorrect scoring, is it only affecting certain people/locations? Very strange
EDIT: just received it.
Yes I have also got this email. What a joke! Does this mean we all get lower OOMs now? Or is there a chance we move up the OOM considering this score has not been scored correctly. Very confused and frustrated now.
Yes, I got it too.
Its a generic email being sent across the board I imagine so dont get disappointed yet as you won't know for a few days how it will affect your oom.
what did the email say exactly? Didn’t receive it.
I’m so confused too. The email isn’t very clear. If they haven’t scored correctly and you get a better score after it’s reviewed do we get better OOMs?
was it only scenario mistakes?
Within 24 hours
Christ what a disaster
This is a mess , doesn't give me confidence in Executive Officer assessments now , results of that were meant to be out soon!
I dont understand it but it seems most people will go down not up. It did say we will know within 24 hours so hopefully they wont keep us waiting g
I scored better in the TCO for scenarios than I did for this CO and the questions were the same. I’m hoping that means I will be bumped up! Snippet from email below and will be rectified thin 24 hours…
When candidate responses were scored, the scoring key applied was for the scenario questions included in the intended updated form, and not for two of the scenario questions to which candidates actually responded. Consequently, scores applied to candidates’ responses were incorrect for two of the scenario questions, resulting in candidates receiving an incorrect result and ‘order of merit’ for their selected location.
For those who didn't get the mail.
We are writing to you in relation to the above-mentioned competition and the ‘Stage 1 Result’ letter, which issued to you on the 1st April. Unfortunately, we have discovered an administrative error in relation to the assessment for this competition. This error resulted in candidates receiving an incorrect result and an incorrect order-of-merit ranking for their selected location. Prior to this competition launching, publicjobs had updated and introduced new scenario questions which formed part of the Application Form. However, when candidates completed the test, two of those six scenario questions had not updated as intended. Rescoring is underway, and candidates may notice their application status changing within their candidate portal while this rescoring is carried out. We understand that this will come as a disappointment for candidates who will receive a lower score/lower placing on the ‘order of merit’ and we apologise sincerely for this. A quality review is being carried out to ensure that an error of this type cannot happen again. You will receive an updated result for your selected location through your candidate portal in the next 24 hours. Once candidates have received their revised scores, publicjobs will be pleased to respond to queries through the dedicated mailbox, which will be provided together with your revised result. publicjobs remains fully committed to upholding the highest standards of excellence, fairness, and integrity across all competitions and selection processes. This matter has been reported to the Commission for Public Service Appointments, the regulator for this competition. Yup. I'm assuming everyone got it.
I dont know what to think
recieved it also I scored high enough so assuming now will be down ranked not good enough by them in my eyes to do this to people.
I presume we'll all be getting new Order Of Merit then, some going up and some going down. What a mess
Part 2
Exact same thing happened to me, got about 100 points lower in the CO scenarios than I did in the TCO Scenarios despite using the same answers. Guess this explains it
People have already been interviewed in the top 100 so how does that work with this mistake??
My understanding is this: They changed some of the scenarios but didn't update the marking scheme. So, some answers may have incorrectly been marked as right or wrong.
They will update scores according to the proper marking scheme and your OOM could go up or down depending how your scores were affected when using the incorrect marking scheme, whether positively or negatively.
What an embarrassing situation for Public Jobs. I’ve scored really well in the scenario section so I presume for county’s who haven’t interviewed yet we’re all getting a new OOM. No wonder the EO results are taking so long.
I have been wondering what happened to those results
why did only some receive the email - surely this was across those board for everyone who completed the tests?
Literally just got it there, I can't be going any lower than I already am 😭
Yes just got it! I was 13 originally so now I will probably be placed lower. Absolutely crushed. Can't believe this has happened!
there was no testing for this, it was just the application
Oh this is bad. Scored really well so don't see myself getting any higher. Down I go. Considering they've already starting interviewing in Dublin this could get very messy for publicjobs.
