Hoping a New Thread may fix the posting issues.
He'd be a lame duck if he was kept on without a contract extension.
I think it was more Robbo assumed the defender would clear it for a throw and didnt want to give him the option of hitting it against him for a goal kick. Then when he realised the defender was letting it run, it was too late. It was poor from Robbo, but i doubt it was because he was saving himself.
I do wonder how Kerkez would have done for the Beto goal. Throwing himself in for blocks is one his best qualities. Robbo didnt do much wrong otherwise. He’ll keep rotating id say.
They deserved to lose, we have serious injuries all over our squad, down to our 3rd keeper, have to play a midfielder at RB as we cannot keep anyone fit there and they still sat back. We played midweek, had the letdown of going out on the night, while expected it is still a mental blow, and they sat back.
Arsenal losing means we still aren't mathematically out of the title race
I do hate city
The keeper done well when he came on, he seemed fairly comfortable and was quite capable of using his feet.
Was there any word on the Mama injury yet? Could be a big factor in the run in
🤣.
Hugo keeping himself entertained anyway 😂
Hard to believe as bad as we are this season and by God we are bad,we technically can still win the league. Was it with 4 or 5 games left last season that we had it wrapped up?
I'd say myself he's close to that already. If the board had confidence in him, i'd guess there would be an offer on the table by now. preparations and groundwork will already be started for new signings with agents etc,and they won't do business unless they know what's happening.
It's the only thing keeping me sane.....again today (notwothstanding the absence ) we were atrocious. The standard of the game was really low,two really poor sides. We can't let this drag on for 6 months more before changing this backroom team out.
I can easily see the club giving him the extension in the summer.
Tyler morton played for lyon tonight and won away at psg, another mistake by slot letting him go,
FFS, Slot didnt let him go. He wanted to move on to get first team football...
So could I, and that's what I'm afraid of.
Kerkez has been problematic for much of the season
He hasn't been great. No issue there
But at least he is committed to the cause.
Robbo is looking after himself now.
5 games to go..who do you pick. A player on a contract not going to the WC or a player who is out of contract and going to the WC.
Just for reference, Klopp lost his last game against Everton 0-2 at Goodison.
The team was arguably better than what we sent out today! Alisson, Trent, Konate, Virgil, Robertson, Mac Allister, Jones, Szobozlai, Diaz, Nunes, Salah. (Gravenberch didn't get off the bench)
I'll take a win away to Everton however it comes!
Really? He had a tough start but he has been one of our best players for months now.
Were you the one who could fathom the idea of sacking a league winning manager? Well, what if we were in the relegation zone and got relegated this season? Would you still stick with him because of what he did last season? If so then fair play to you, you win the "best fan" award…your medal is in the post.
And if not then you have just contradicted yourself so I guess you have to say yes. 🤷
He's shown a bit of fight alright

Wolves away +3

Fulham away +2
Burnley home +2
Arsenal away +2
+13pts
Puts us on 68pts 2 from top with 5 to play, that's not even getting into 9 defeats, all but one of those games were draws, grasping defeats from the jaws of victory.
All those games, shocking, missed sitters, stonewall penalties, individual errors, misses penalties, conceding pointless penalties, conceding early, conceding so late, goals of the century against us, but ultimately enough chances in all those games to be winning them
A new manager would be licking his lips with us , so close, and yet so far .
Turns out it was exactly what we needed, almost to the minute…😁
Sure hope the players don't have this attitude as we literally play all 3 of our rivals for top 5 in our remaining fixtures. We could easily sleep walk to 3 defeats in those games. We need to be up for every game, which as we know we have been unable to do all season.
Huge step today, alot of hard work still needs to be done.
Wirtz could possibly be the least individualistic player I have ever seen playing pro ball. Some players, like Gerrard, can grab a game by the scruff of the neck and win a game by themselves.
Wirtz is not that player. Wirtz thrives off of interplay with his team mates. Give him the ball and make a run and he will get it back to you in the perfect spot without you having to break stride regardless of how many defenders are in between ye. But he will never dribble around 3 or 4 players and just stick it in the corner Roy of the rovers style.
We see it all the time when he plays with Frimpong. Frimpong knows and trusts him so makes those runs after laying it off to Wirtz and we have borne the fruits of that on occasion. We saw it today even with Salah a couple of times. He is a system player. If the system is working and everyone knows their roles etc he will thrive but when the team is out of form he is not the guy who will drag us through those poor periods.
That's obviously why he still looks class when playing for Germany but often looks anonymous for us. For example if we ever challenge (or God forbid win) another title while he is with us I can see him being very crucial to that cos he will be playing in a team that's purring whereas now when everyone is off form his most effective attributes kinda become null and void if that makes sense.
He would only ever leave by mutual agreement, and he'd see a significant of the money he's owed in that case, would be in an especially strong position if he achieves champions' league. He would likely be able to sign a 3 or 4 year deal somewhere else worth probably another 12-15 million minimum off the back of his two seasons at Liverpool imo. Other clubs leadership aren't getting into the weeds week in week out like Liverpool fans are.
I also can't imagine that Slot would accept going in to the final 12 months of his contract without a new deal negotiated. Personally I think he'd be pretty crazy to stay without a contract signed. He probably would earn not much more, but would potentially miss out on another big club if he gets the sack due to a poor start next season.
but when the team is out of form he is not the guy who will drag us through those poor periods.
That's the problem. When you spend over £100 million on a player, you want someone who can do just that.
I can see the quality, he made a pass to Gakpo nobody else on the pitch would have seen but these moments of quality are too few and far between. We need more.
Isak had 9 touches yesterday and five v PSG.
Some going.
