Prima Facie sold out in about four minutes. I know it was the Gaiety but I was surprised with no queue or waiting room.

Was a really good gig albeit very short. Support band was basically just karaoke as far as I could tell which was interesting.
That was a great gig. Excellent sound and his voice was incredible. The length of it worked fine for me as I went moshing, and at 43 I wasn't able for any more.

The Strokes sounded amazing at coachella. Hopefully they come here on their next tour.
New single isn't the worst musically, but he's gone a bit nuts with the auto tune on it. He's used it in interesting ways on The Voidz stuff but for me it hurts Going Shopping.
Seems if you register for the mailing list on their site you'll get presale codes for whatever dates they eventually do.
Paul brady and the Proclaimers for the new seperate tented show in limerick this November. looks to be taking place in the old cleeves site, so right in the city, great spot for gigs

I think for any show where the crowd will be 40+ the hotels are mental as it is, wednesday night in the gibson is over 360 for yungblud, so you can only imagine what it will be for the strokes 400+ id say for a night
the Gibson is next door to the Point though. I can't imagine hoteliers all over the city will be rubbing their hands with glee at the arrival of 2001's The Strokes for one arena gig.
I think Basq's point was hoteliers like to cash in on any event going, im stating a 40+ crowd is more likely to stay the night.

Why am I at fault?
If I want to have a drink and enjoy myself, my options are:
I'd say a lot of people outside Dublin have similar choices.
I get pubic transport options are at fault here also, but a hotel on a Wednesday night in a capital city shouldn't be upwards of 200 euro.
I checked Trivago (as advised by that guy with the teeth) and found a city centre hotel room on the 28/10 for €90 with free cancellation. If you're willing to stay in a hostel you can get a bed for €40.
A bed in a what 12 person dorm?
Or get the bus to the airport and sleep in a corner on the arrivals floor for free 😴 😅
the €90 is for a room in a hotel. There are several cheaper hostel options, IDK how many beds per room.
You're talking about booking a room before a gig has been announced..

What we're debating is the greed around hotel prices when big gigs are announced.
Anyhoo, I'm veering this thread wildly off-topic now so I apologise - I'll say no more on it.
I actually agree with @colmufc on this one. And that’s coming from someone living in Dublin, the whole setup is a bit of a disgrace. Hotels gouging and transport options that fall off a cliff the minute a gig ends, even in peak months.
You can always spot the Dublin crowd in these threads as well, no need to factor in accommodation, fuel, or how you’re actually getting home. Easy to shrug it off when it’s a short trip back and none of the real cost or effort applies.
For anyone outside the capital it’s a completely different equation, time, money, logistics, all just to make a midweek show work.
How come it’s cheaper to go 1,000kms by air, book a flight, ticket and a hotel than it is to go up the road and do the same?
That’s why it’s actually great to see gigs land in places like Cork, Limerick or Belfast. At least people aren’t forced into the usual expensive pilgrimage up to the capital.
At this stage I’d nearly rather head elsewhere for gigs anyway, different crowd, less hassle, and you’re not being fleeced for the privilege.
Getting rid of the 23.45 Dublin- Waterford Expressway route (which serves Carlow) really doesn't help
this, this did not age well.
