I miss those hot hatches and the Jap 90's cars. Even if you buy one they are very hard to insure. Which is why I am going electric with my next car. And the mad thing is if you buy an AWD electric you get close to supercar performance for a fraction of the price. Well, real world performance like 0-100km/h and 80-120km/h when over taking someone. Obviously a supercar can keep pulling really hard up to top speed but that ain't real world performance within the law but any how.
Was thinking same thing yesterday when saw a 2019 E63 Amg .aside from noise and high top speed ( which u can't legally reach) is it worth the high fuel bills and other running costs . Tesla models S are now great value and you could either keep it as a wolf in sheep's clothing or pimp ot up a bit - either way .drive it into ground

No I didn't. I got a classic policy before a few years back and you can barely use the car. So totally pointless getting a classic policy. Maybe if I lived in Dublin and drove it around the area it might work but I do not live in Dublin and to use the classic car like my daily the kilometres would clock up pretty quickly.

My dad had an 1989 80 petrol automatic , I always said it was built like a bank vault and had lovely velour seats . Think build quality went downhill after that
anyone who knows what the e63 is will know what it is, or stop to look. Usually I just think “I can’t believe someone spent €xxx on that new”. 😀 The S was a head turner 10 years ago, and like many gas guzzlers of the era was also a €120k car. My old boss had one in 2015 and it was literally a local attraction.
Today they’re no different to most EV’s in terms of emotion or ability, whereas the e63 is still a different car to other ICE
Yes agreed but no one likes the hassle and expense of spending a fortune on fuel every time you have a blast / put the foot down ..the acceleration of evs like the model s which are now so cheap is very appealing
I sort of get what you are saying. I have both, and EV and a 3L twin turbo petrol. The EV is great for overtaking and getting going, but its a bit soulless. The petrol car brings a bit of theater to the proceedings, in my view there is no comparison when it comes to fun, the petrol motor wins.
Ok works better if you have both . Could buy a used model s for day to day driving and something for weekend

well cost is a different thing, but definitely you can get a lot of straight line pulls from an EV for less money.
I had a model 3 LR when they were new in 2020 and once you’ve taken all your friends and family for a few hard pulls in it, like any other car you rarely use it, put its nice to have it in your pocket if required.
Look at e.g the mk7.5 gti versus an ID3 GTX - identical cars, size, acceleration, options and ability, but the gti is a car I genuinely regret selling - and 15 years from now a mk7.5 gti will still be a car guys car.
