John Kenny on the Morning Slot today. Someone messaged in about empty daytime slots, and JK's response was that there were 'big changes' on the way to RTE Gold. Intriguing.
They mentioned changes weeks ago and no news since.

If she is I feel a lot of the 60s, 70s, 80s output will be cut. no thanks to having 90s, 2000s "Bangers" in the afternoon on Gold if that's who they'll be aiming the station at.
If she’s45 shouldn’t she be moved to Radio 1? There is too much talk on there already and most of it not very good. It would be a good way to wean the 2fm audience over to R1 as they age out of the 2FM demographic whatever that is. Going from prime youth radio straight into g on is sitting room seems a bit strange even you’re just 45.
well unless she is happy with 50k a year she wont be going to RTE gold…

He certainly suits that slot.

Same before 7:30 too. The switch at 7:30 was anything but smooth, the breakdown tape kicked in.
I have always liked Will …….but it's a handy RTE staff number he has in RTE Gold with 7.5 hours of live radio each week, with a handful of links.
He has no other RTE commitments as far as I am aware. I am surprised he is not utilised by Radio 1 for covering shows (he covered Rising Time on a very few occasions and some simulcasts with RTE Gold during Covid).
But he obviously does a lot of pre record and original prep with the inserts and the comedy bits. Sounds like he’s producing the weekend chart countdown and probably Mickey Mac too. He could just turn up like Al Dunne and read some stuff out of the papers or go to some generic DJ prep site.
I’d imagine he’s doing as much prep time as it would be to do the show live with less features
