Will the government ever do anything about this Stone Age carry on or are they afraid of the perpetrators?
Going on all over the country , it’s the biggest form of animal cruelty but nothing ever done to the yobs whipping these animals up and down highways and byways of Ireland
It part of our culture boss.
Why does it involve Tulsa ,unless it was kids driving
How did Michael "Chicken" Brennan get elected ?
Incredibly cruel and also breaking several laws.
And really awful for the first reponsders to have to deal with.
Pregnant horse whipped to death in Dublin recently in similar circumstances.
Barely covered in the national news.
Maybe there is a leader who can sort this out. It's not exactly Israel vs Iran.
When someone does bring up animal cruelty in the dail they are hounded and ostracized by the few TDs that show up.
And then you'll have a big news piece about a dog being rescued from a hole in the ground.
And how we're a nation of animal lovers.
It's all very strange and disturbing.
Any time I see them around here, it's always children on them.
I emailed Pavee Point asking as tax payer why they never condemn this savagery regarding the pregnant mare, I got a very polite response saying they were just as appaulled as me but sulky racing is not exclusive to travellers and there is no evidence of animal cruelty in this community. I was given contact details for various animal charities to convey my concern to. There is no hope regarding this issue and we will keep hearing these vile upsetting incidents over and over. It's a disgrace.
Eh
Is that the one that the women is in a critical condition in hospital if so it was on the news alright but haven't heard a update of any arrests yet.
Amazing certain communitys are lawless.
Update just read it

What did she do to deserve that?
Obviously nobody deserves that.
Just born into the wrong community.
I read or heard zero news reports about it in the Irish media
You'd struggle to find Irish Media who haven't reported on it.
Is there anyone in authority that has the balls to take these people on ? AGS won’t do it . Many of them have multiple road traffic convictions and are still on the road . County Councils won’t do it - Look at the state of some of the encampments and even once beautiful housing estates that they have ruined . Look at some of the cemeteries - they resemble stalls on Moore Street . No action taken Department of Agriculture won’t take them on - Many have horses but neither own or rent land - how can that be ?
This country has become infested by liberal ideology where everything goes . It will eventually fall to the people who can take no more to deal with them .
It was truly awful.
To be honest I don't think she'll survive, or if she does she'll be very severely incapacitated for life.
Another article I read this morning says that doctors who treated her said that it was the most severe brain injury they had ever seen.
That's indicates a pretty grim prognosis for that woman.
And what's more shocking is that the perpetrators were a woman in her 40s and a teenage girl of 17. I know traveler women get into handbags and hair pulling often but this sort of extreme violence is typical of males. It's actually shocking and it takes a lot to shock me these days.
The best they can offer is whataboutery and lies. A joke of an organisation.
The woman getting her head caved in with a hatchet (after being run off the road by two vehicles - the savagery is off the scale) might be wising more people up to the reality. There is a particular level of outrage this time. On that video also, a man is about to go for another woman's head with a golf club but she manages to talk him out of it (he was probably just making an intimidating gesture, but even at that...)
The young woman who was attacked is still hooked to machines in Cork University Hospital - with head/brain injuries her doctors haven't seen the likes of before, apparently. Even if she survives, I don't know if she'll come out of it without permanent severe brain damage.
Hopefully but I wouldn’t count on it the perpetrators will get long long sentences in prison … free legal aid solicitors will be saying those that beat her to pulp are decent people with children and are sorry
It's a fair point that sulky racing isn't exclusively a traveller pursuit. I knew a gang of young lads, near where I used to live many years ago, who were all into in. None of them were travellers.
It's not a fair point that there is no evidence of animal cruelty in the traveller community. Settled community aren't immune to it either.
The defence by PP of "Sulky racing isn't exclusively a traveller pursuit" though... I mean... and? It's still most popular among travellers. None of the widespread problems in traveller society are exclusive to traveller society (and I don't think anyone would claim any are) but it's the disproportionate numbers, and the level of normalisation, that people are talking about.
That happened on Sunday in Birdhill, Co. Tipperary - there was widespread coverage. The woman's name is Scarlett Faulkner (from Limerick). Then no update for a bit - Scarlett has been in intensive care since. Update today: two arrests.
sure wasn’t a kid killed in Chapelizod a few years ago. At at rush hour in the winter with no lights on one of those contraptions and still nothing was done about it.
Horses left on waste ground and public land. If the authorities even did seize them, what would they do with them? Scramblers you can throw in a yard or in a recycling machine. That’s the number one problem with any action in this. To stop it, you have to start seizing the animals. And there is no where to put them or any money to cover the cost of it if there even was. It’s usually kids on them so what use is a conviction or diversion programme? The adults involved couldn’t give a hoot about another conviction.
It's nothing to do with liberal ideology, the State has been terrified of anything to do with Travellers since its inception.
Was that the boy in Clondalkin or was that a separate incident?

One woman in her 40s and a teenager arrested by the guards today .
id also imagine anyone involved in it who isnt currently a traveller is probably a settled traveller
Or a wannabe traveller

Another horse whipped to death and left to die by the same community in Limerick
Cut their money.
No mention of travellers whipping a horse to death in that article.
It's a section of society that is growing more or if control and more violent every year.
I remember 10 years ago or more there was a huge slash hook incident in Smithfield and it was a big deal in media. Now it seems to be happening every week and hardly make the news at all.
This poor woman is effectively dead sadly. With brain injuries like that, there's no returning to normal life. Terrible thing to say here, but I think it would be a mercy for her to die given her current condition and dire prognosis.
Ten years ago, the Irish media were willing to tackle these issues. Now, they are terrified to give them the attention they deserve. You’ll occasionally see an article about it on RTE, but it's never headline news, and you'll never see a detailed discussion about the issue in the mainstream media.
