I think you ignore how Trump works. He'll probably say something like "if you fire one bullet at our soldiers on the island it will be the end of Iran as a country, we'll use nukes if required". The guy is beyond all reason, he knows only threats and intimidation
What good would defensive weapons be against the US and israel. Would be destroyed. Iran's greatest weapon are consumers in the cradle of capitalism. Quinnipiac, one of the more reliable pollsters, has just posted an 11% Dem lead, and a 38% approval rating for Trump. 35% think the war will make the world safer, 39% support it including 86% of Republicans, 5% of Dems and 28% of Inds. 57% of Inds want the Dems to control the House, and 26% the Reps. Strangely enough only 11% listed the price of gasoline as their main concern, 21% said healthcare costs.

Mayors of two towns just inside the border from Lebanon have spoken publicly about feeling abandoned by the state. Both were very emotional. Both towns subjected to missiles barrages from Hezbollah. Just read now that Bibi's spokesperson has resigned. Internal cracks starting to show. Looks like Israel is running out of interceptors and that Iran are using ever more powerful missiles to cause damage.
The longer the war goes on the greater the cost for both the U.S. and Israel and the more pressure their is on oil suppleis likely forcing prices further upwards. The longer the war goes on the greater the leverage Iran has. The more desperate Trump will be to try to bring it to a close. His idea of a ground invasion is utter bonkers and almost certainly guarantees mass casualties. Trump might use this to go nuclear. Desperate people take desperate measures.
There are estimates floating around that it could take Israel a decade to reinstate what it's lost infrastructurally if the country survives.
A lot more Americans coming home in body bags would be a start.

I think Israel's very survival is in the balance. It's reputation is shot in the international community. You can't commit genocide and not invoke the ire of the world upon you. It's infrastructure is being systematically destroyed. It's people have lost that feeling of security they had. Who is going to invest in a country which has been shown to be defenceless against attack. Israel (David) poked Iran (Goliath). It was a mistake by Bibi of historical proportions.
Iran as a state wasn't threatening war on Israel. It was Israel who started the 12 day was last year and again this year. Yes Iran supports Hamas, Houthis and Hezbollah I don't think that is in doubt. But in terms of direct military confrontation the aggressor was/is Israel. Taking on Iran was a mental thing for Bibi to do even with the U.S. backing him up. It's terrain alone made a ground invasion nigh impossible. It showed missile capability in the 12 day war. Bibi had to get Trump to plead for a ceasefire then and that was with the element of surprise in Israel's favour.
Killing the supreme leader Ali Khamenei was strategically a huge error. His martyrdom united the nation whatever misgivings they may have had about the Government. As Scott Ritter said once they killed the Ayatollah Israel/U.S. lost the war.

This (like many analyses here) conveniently ignores the decades of proxy war that Iran has been waging against Israel; that their State policy is "Death to Israel, Death to America." Whatever about the rest of your claims, the idea that this escalation by Israel/US was unprovoked is simply not true - the Ayatollahs' regime has made it clear their quarrel with Israel (inter alia) is a fight to the death.
I'm also not sure what the paedophile and Russian collaborator Scott Ritter has to do with anything (or if it's some other Scott Ritter you're referring to) but if you're using him as a source, that explains a lot.
Detail in that is limited but wonder is it something to do with "Sky Shield" (i.e. European air defence network initiative with Germany, and a large number of other EU countries)?

I think Israeli companies are supposed to be providing technology for parts of this e.g. ballistic missile interceptors.
Would have thought most if not all the manufacturing will happen in Europe under licence (they'd hardly want to be stuck depending on a lifeline of imports of critical ammo for these air defence systems from Israel if Russia attacks one of the countries involved…).

Credit to Sky News having a lengthy report this evening about Israeli war crimes in Lebanon, including the deliberate killing of two paramedics - not sure this type of report would have gone to air even 12 months ago.
Israel can’t ban journalists from entering Lebanon (yet) like they did in Gaza unless it was a propaganda walk around with a arse licking group.

No. It isn't. I'm just not going to directly publish the user's location. But it's pretty clear from their posts in other discussions here. He's always been a source of insightful posts from his work environment. I've no doubt the same workplace gives him useful insights into the current conflict as well.
