Judgment (No. 5) of Mr. Justice Cregan delivered on the 18th day of March, 2026 in the High Court in the case of The Board of Management of Wilson’s Hospital School (Plaintiff) and Enoch Burke (Defendant)
https://ww2.courts.ie/acc/alfresco/a8353ae7-1a83-4f3c-810c-7da62307cb3f/2026_IEHC_171.pdf/pdf#view=fitH
Hot off the press and opening with a slightly wearied "This is my fifth judgment delivered in these proceedings. They all relate to the motions for attachment and committal brought by the plaintiff against Mr. Burke. Mr. Burke has been repeatedly committed to prison for repeated and flagrant breaches of a High Court Order not to trespass on the plaintiff's property."
The concluding paragraphs also have the air of a parent dealing with a wearisome child and urging him for the fifteenth time GO TO BED ENOCH
67. I would also remark that Mr Burke comes to this court and argues that court orders are sacrosanct and must be obeyed by everyone, including the Governor of Mountjoy Prison. Yet, he makes this argument whilst simultaneously being in prison for over 600 days for refusing to obey a lawful order of the High Court not to trespass on school property. As far as he is concerned, everyone must obey court orders – except him. He believes that the court order which restrains him from trespassing is unlawful. It is not. It is a lawful order of the High Court and has been so found by three High Court Judges. It is not up to Mr Burke to decide if a court order is unlawful. That is a matter for the High Court and, on appeal, the Court of Appeal and/or the Supreme Court. He may not like it, or agree with it, but he has to obey it.68. As I have stated in every judgment I have given in this case, Mr Burke is not in prison because of his religious beliefs which he is perfectly entitled to have. However, he must obey the order of the court not to trespass on the plaintiff's property. If he gives such an undertaking, then he will be free to leave prison.69. This has been explained in terms which are crystal clear to Mr Burke. I am satisfied that Mr Burke knows full well the reason why he is in prison but, nevertheless, persists in putting forward false reasons as to why he is there. No doubt it suits his political campaign against transgenderism to pretend to the outside world and to his followers that he has been imprisoned because of his religious beliefs, but nothing could be further from the truth.70. Mr. Burke does not have to “bend the knee to transgender ideology” as he repeatedly puts it. The court order does not require that he do so. It simply requires him not to trespass on school grounds.71. Mr Burke can be produced on-line for court hearings as easily in Castlerea Prison as he can be from Mountjoy Prison, as has already been demonstrated.72. Mr Burke is free to request the Governor of Castlerea Prison that he be brought before this Court to purge his contempt just as much as he had that ability with the Governor of Mountjoy Prison.73. Mr Burke has the keys to his own prison cell in Castlerea Prison, just as he has in Mountjoy Prison.74. I am satisfied that the transfer of Mr Burke from Mountjoy to Castlerea Prison was lawful and that his current detention in prison in Castlerea Prison for contempt of court is also lawful. His application is dismissed.

She must have been inspired by the revised title of this thread!
The Burkes were removed from a church in NI by the PSNI.
"Family of Enoch Burke evicted from Presbyterian Church in Co Armagh by police"
https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/family-of-enoch-burke-evicted-from-presbyterian-church-in-co-armagh-by-police/a1641825148.html
There's a Quinn family member stuck in NI since about 2011 on a ROI contempt warrant. Wonder if they can stay with him.
My theory is that some people are full of hate and prejudice to begin with and they find religion to be a useful tool to channel it.
I know many religious people who are very nice and not at all hateful.
Hmm not sure about that - my own view is that from birth various religions produce varying degrees of hate prejudice and intolerance of others not of a similar mindset. Catholicism of 1950s Ireland for example was equal match to the prejudices we still see today in some non Catholic Christian religions and offshoot cults.
The only reason Catholicism ultimately failed in Ireland is people eventually said fck that, collectively. For those who hung on up to the late 1980s before everything crashed down with the abuse scandals, it was more à la carte approach - take on some Catholic values but ignore others.
The Irish would be terrible Muslims as a collective- we’d always be pushing for an exception to the rules 🤪
Lol at the laughing Reverend in the church on the vidoe, such irreverence to an elderly lady.
what video are you referring to?
They've got out and about more than I have since the order was made to bring them to jail. Sterling work bringing them to justice you gotta say!
Lol, at the very first clearly audible line of the video: Martina - the reigning Mayo Hide & Seek Champion '26 - asking whether some poor unfortunate, who was their then current victim - who they'd decided was that particular day's choice to recreationally harass - was "hiding" from them.
I presume this must be it. Comedy central.
The video recorded of the Burkes visit to the Presbyterian Church a few days ago. See the post above.
You should have warned us it was a Burke-generated video
aint no-one got time to watch 24 minutes of burkery.
Better than Fair City.
The Burkes are mindless imbeciles - there really isn't any hope for the younger Burkes, the are indoctrinated fools, spouting hateful nonsense.
You'd almost feel sorry for them... almost
That's a low bar.
It's a good insight into mammy's complete and utter delusion, and clear signs that she's in the early stages of dementia given she's constantly struggling to remember names.
Was mentioned earlier whether religion was being used as a tool of hatred for people who were just born to be bad. No I don't think so. What we have is children who were indoctrinated by someone who seems to have endured some sort of trauma themselves.
The wailing about the sodomising of children being endorsed is too far off the charts even for a fundamentalist.
We learned that dancing, especially dances bring together young members of different churches are the work of the devil.
Someone else pointed out that Mrs Burke's memory appeared to be failing, this certainly appears to be the case. With Josh constantly reminding her of the details. It was not long ago that those young church members would be killing each other. Dancing is not breaking one of the 10 Comandments.
The image of the Burke family matron thrusting herself between young couples on the dance-floor, swiping at them with the good book to keep them the required distance apart - down with that sort of thing - proper to dancing is hilarious.
The Burkes of Mayo- coming soon to RTÉ - love it
..
now I’m imagining a burkeefied version of footloose. A cousin from the big smoke comes to stay after their parents pass away. they really want to go to the Debs but martinas homeschool doesn’t do one so they rent the local scout hall.
Someone touched on it (careful now!!) a few posts above yours… fear and insecurity pure and simple. The foundation on which all modern religious tenets are based.
Irish Independent putting pressure on Gardai by asking why the pair aren’t in prison - the mother is out and about in Northern Ireland creating her usual mischief over the last week, so certainly it’s mildly embarrassing.
They have the power to enter the family home but haven’t done so …yet. I’d say they want to make sure both of them are present there as it’s going to be a shouty mess of a thing when it does happen.
This family though are a time sink for stretched Garda resources- I really do hope when they enter the house, they do so all guns blazing - trash the place as much as the law allows; the Burkes deserve nothing less; if they want drama let’s give it to them.
As for their protests in NI Pxryesbetraian churches and halls over “dancing” no less, you can see that the family is just gripped with a cult like mentality. If they used their energies to combat racism and hatred and homophobia etc that would be something- but loud protests about “dancing”? Cloud cuckoo land - lock em up!

The least fun debs ever known..unless some local hoodlums gatecrash it maybe and the Burkes discover a taste for scrapping.

So the Guards don't particularly want to go busting down the door of an elderly woman. Fair enough I suppose.
Also dancing is against the Bible. Who knew?
Have you not seen rhe documentary Footloose?
An elderly woman with a lot of energy and well able to get around the country.
I don’t think the powers that be are overly anxious to lock them up for this, rightly or wrongly. The Attorney General declined to issue proceedings against them. If the local guards come across them then I'm sure they'll pick them up but they're not going to put a lot of resources into it. If it means they don't show up in court the judge probably won't push it too much either.
