Any country will use any means at its disposal if its existence is threatened. There's nothing unique about either the US or Israel there. Iran is also a good example of this right now.

Trump may cancel sanctions on Iranian oil that is already loaded onto ships. Problem is at the moment it is impossible to buy oil at what it says on a computer screen, it is just paper oil not physical. Correct. It is still letting loose with everything it has to preserve itself, though, very much including attacking the majority of its neighbours. Any regime will use whatever tools at its disposal to preserve itself if it is existentially threatened. For any regime with access to nuclear weapons, that will include those, of course. If they don't then they'll use whatever other tools they have to hand, as Iran is doing right now (to the surprise of nobody who understands how the world works).

It seems to me that Israel is a perpetual war society so I can't see them stopping until either they run out of ammo, or theres a coup.
They used to say "They should feck off back to where they came from" in a lot of the places the Jewish diaspora had been living as well. Then the Holocaust happened. While this event didn't singularly result in the idea of Israel, it certainly massively ramped up to support for it. I absolutely condemn what the Israeli government is doing these days, but we must still be consider cause and effect. If the Jewish of Israel were move back to their old homes in Europe in particular, would the current residents pinky swear not to treat them to with contempt and suspicion on the following decades?

I think the USA were getting close to calling an end to this war. They were losing the PR battle. However Israel do not want it to end and may have bombed the Gas field to prolong it. Iran warned them about attacking oil/gas infrastructure so they knew the reaction.
Israel decided when it began and will decide when it finishes. They are doing 75% of the bombing anyway.

Jewish people in Europe hadn't established a colony with the specific intention to oppress and kill the natives. Israel is like what happened in the northern part of this island in the 17th century, except about 100 times worse. Israel makes our friends in the North look like pacifists.
