Reports stating that Israel have launched an attack against Iran
Interesting short story by a displaced woman in Gaza.
https://everythingispolitical.com/readings/a-trail-of-soap
I twisted the faucet handle back and forth—a futile hope for even a thin thread of water. Not a single drop came.
My body sagged under the weight of rage, disappointment, fury, and a storm of unanswerable questions. I rushed through the crowded corridor of angry women, out into the street. I couldn’t hold back tears.
I wept, cursing myself and the occupation and Gaza and her sea— the sea I love with a weary, lonely love, just as I’ve always loved everything in this patch of earth.
This is a crazy and terrifying story.
A correspondent for the Times of Israel has his life threatened by betters on Polymarket.
America were in that war, they supported Iraq. then after the war Iraq was short of funds, and as a result attacked Kuwait, but that loss them the supportof the US and they became the bad guys
so you agree that Israel pose a massive threat and that their nuclear program needs to eb removed and their facilities and IDF destroyed
Scant evidence of Israel's nuclear program as you say. Secret programs tend to be difficult to verify.
But if Israeli nuclear technician Mordechai Vanunu was a liar/fantasist, they went to extraordinary lengths to get him back to Israel, sentence him to 18 years, not let him leave the country afterwards, lifetime ban on talking to journalists etc.
Mordechai Vanunu - Wikipedia
(As an aside I have to grudgingly admire Mossad, morally repugnant but hell some of the actions they pull off like the Vanunu capture are incredible).
Why Iran is so hard to defeat -
If, they have nuclear weapons the length of time they are rumoured to have them, you can't really say they have been used irresponsibly.
Has anyone used nuclear weapons irresponsibly?
other than the US, who has used nuclear weapons irresponsibly?
Does the fact they wont confirm that that to not cause you alarm?
There's more evidence that Trump is a pedophile than there is Iran having a bomb.
Yet innocent Iranian schoolgirls get bombed because president pedo can't have them.
But but but ....the bomb.…but but but anti semeticism but but but windfarms etc..... all distraction.
I think you meant responsibly.
All uses have been irresponsible.
not really.
Ah, in fairness, those points are cheap.
No one is saying Iran has a nuke, but there is suspicion that they are trying to create one (I think they are, and for good reason).
Trump may or may not be implicated in certain crimes, let's wait to see (we probably won't see)
The horrific double strike on the girl's school seems to have been a tragic mistake (but we need to know how and why that mistake happened; we may never really know).
Lets bomb girls schools in case one of them becames a nuclear scientist. You know you're justifying the bombing of every school in Ireland.
So he asked (demanded) 8 countries to police Irans strait of Hormuz:
So far France has refused.
Japan has refused.
Australia has refused.
Canada has refused.
Germany has refused.
UK possibly sending mine sweeping drones but will not send ships.
South Korea considering.
China hasn't said anything. They are getting oil anyway.
"Suppose they gave a war and nobody came" Carl Sandburg
Wasn't there a load of US documents released under FOI which corroborated his claims?
+ he told the UK that he doesn't need them, and the Spainish that he do it on his own
Russia offered to help, saying they would remove enriched uranium 😂
That's a load of nonsense.
The horrific double strike on the girl's school seems to have been a tragic mistake
A mistake is putting a red sock in with a white wash.
Double tapping a school is a war crime.
to be honest that could be the best outcome. The US needs boots on the ground to do it.
Is anyone seriously suggesting Israel does not have a nuclear capability?
I think it was being talked about as far back as 67
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samson_Option
Plenty of admissions from Israeli and other leaders there
(Not saying they were not entitled to follow the road of acquiring nuclear capability-nor that I agree with their policies of late)
Ok, I see, the question was framed in a minimalist limited way to try and get a single answer for a particular purpose. That backfired when it became clear that Palestinian-backed terrorists were responsible for more deaths than the Israelis.
Yeah, I think that area where the school was used to be a target area. Perhaps the coordinates were not updated? I dunno. Absolutely unforgivable anyway.
But I do not believe that the school was deliberately targeted. The incentive for that just does not exist in my understanding of things.
Agreed, but I still find it amusing.
Yeah, you keep banging on with this line, but if Iran were serious about building a weapon they would have…a long time ago, and in secret. Like Israel did.
Instead, they signed up to an agreement which limited their enrichment program and were fully compliant with it. They let IAEA inspectors in to their facilities and also signed up to the NPT, unlike Israel who keep everything behind closed doors.
Iran has had an enrichment program for years. If they wanted a weapon, they would have had it by now.
There's no doubt that there would have been people over there that were interested in pursuing nuclear weapons. But as a national pursuit, it was a non starter.
Not only is that the case, they have also been bending over backwards to get back to negotiations to reopen JCPOA and they've been attacked twice during those negotiations and had negotiators assassinated into the bargain.
I'll say this, if Iran weren't interested in nukes before, there's a lot more people over there that are now.
There is quite a lot of corrobarative evidence and there is also a lot of detail from South Africa on both nuclear wapons development and even a proposal to sell warheads to South Africa. An example of "democratic" apartheid states ensuring support and survival for each other.
There is zero realistic doubt amongst western intel services as to Israel possession of nuclear warheads. Indeed, if there were? Golda Meir's threat to use thm in 1973 should have been enough to dispel them.
The reason that there still seems to be cohort who promote doubt regarding Israel's possession of nukes? Well, it's part of a deliberate misinformation campaign intended to ensure that Israel keeps its US military & economic aid packages intact via a policy of nuclear ambiguity.
If one puts that amiguity to the side and assesses the likeliest possibility. Not only does Israel operate a nuclear arsenal, it is one of the few nuclear armed powers with a genuinely survivable nuclear triad and 2nd strike capability. That 2nd strike capability is IMHO entirely a revenge option, as the small size of Israel does mean if it were subject to a 1st Strike attack, little other than the Israeli submarines and the small arsenal of nuclear armed cruise missiles would survive and likely have a list of targets and a letter of last resort alá the Royal Navy's SSBNs.
But I do not believe that the school was deliberately targeted. The incentive for that just does not exist in my understanding of things
I have seen absolutely zero evidence that suggests it wasn't deliberately targeted.
Anything involving this administration in concert with a genocidal regime gets fúck all benefit of the doubt.
A claim, for which, as usual, you provide no evidence.
International Law is clear that civilian targets are a war crime. Only in exceptionally limited cases, where civilian infrastructure is being used for military purposes, can such an attack even be considered. And in those exceptional cases, exceptional evidence is required to avoid the accusation of it being a War Crime.
It seems that all the evidence points to incompetence - not a deliberate attack. That alone does not absolve the perpetrators - incompetence is not exceptional evidence.
Perhaps those responsible for setting up the Tomahawk and those who gathered and analysed the data are currently besides themselves with guilt…
