This operation is a joint USA/ Israel affair with the US seemingly following an Israeli long cherished policy to decimate Iran. It is not possible to point out which of the two did what as they are acting in unison - equally culpable and equally deranged.

Absolutely. Tha shahed drones are pretty basic low technolgy stuff. In some ways the WWII german v-1 was more advanced (propulsion). Setting up a line to assemble a bunch of relatively standard/low-tech off-the-shelf components should be straightforward and repeatable.
The Ukrainians are way ahead of everyone else in terms of taking these things out. And not just one technique, but multiple. But they will still use the expensive hi-tech stuff (AAMs from F-16s) if that's what's needed.
It's also where Israel has pretty good tech as well. I would guess Iron Dome could tackle drones, but that is still quite expensive. Iron Beam would be the best of all, if they have it working and it has sufficient energy to destroy a Shahed (which I'm guessing it would). Iran hasn't bothered sending any drones against Israel this time out, probably due to how successfully the drone threat was eliminated in the 12-day conflict.

The cost of a barrel of Brent crude oil has dropped sharply in the last hour after US Energy Secretary Chris Wright posted on X that the US had successfully escorted an oil tanker through the Straights of Hormuz.
Oil fell from a high of $94 a barrel earlier on Tuesday, to then hit $82 a barrel at 17:30 GMT.
Wright's post on X has since disappeared.
In some cases it is very easy to work out who is doing what, using geography. This is a perfect illustration of that. Which is why for many days on the thread I have been saying that this is highly probable an American strike. The basic facts make it obvious. It is one of the most southern locations which has been targeted. The Israelis have mostly been targeting northern areas (e.g., Tehran) for geographically obvious reasons and limitations. Similarly, the US Navy will have been mainly targeting more southern areas, for equally obvious reasons and limitations. American Gulf-based weapons, as well as intercontinental Bombers (B-1, B-2, B-52), will have been able to cover a wider area, or indeed the entire country in the case of the bombers. Israel doesn't have the same capability. So with a basic knowledge of geography, it is possible to point out which of the two is more likely to have done what. The Israelis have also been publishing quite a lot of information about what they have been targeting.

The words "estimates", "could have", "as many as" are doing a lot of heavy lifting here.
Whereas the CONFIRMED number in that article is 5,459 from one agency, and VERIFIED at more than 6000 by another.
Nothing has been shown that this 30,000 figure is anything approaching fact.
You repeat the 30,000 figure because that's what you WANT it to be.

The Saudis and US have been bombing the Houthis for the better part of a decade, they're still going strong. The asymmetry of forces is heavily in their favor. They don't have significant infrastructure that can be destroyed, whereas their enemies have lots of static invaluable targets. They don't even need to destroy much, if they manage to cause insurers to pull coverage for shipping, then they've succeeded.

Very little news coming out of Israel regarding attacks by Iran. Of interest is the extension of wartime restrictions to the end of March.

The US has asked Israel to halt strikes on Iran's energy infrastructure, according to a report by Axios.
The message was conveyed at a senior political level and to Israeli Defence Forces chief of staff Eyal Zamir, the outlet reported, citing three sources familiar with the matter.
Three reasons were given by the Trump administration for the request, including a goal to cooperate with Iran's oil sector after the war and a fear that the strikes would harm the Iranian public and trigger massive Iranian retaliatory attacks.
No different to many years of Houthi drone attacks, some international airports closed. Some local airports close for limited times, so literally the same as the last 8 years or so.
