So thought I’d throw this up, in a similar style to the electricity and gas switching deals available
one big switch have a deal for eir Broadband €35 a month and €100 credit added to your account for new residential account holders, if you’ve had eir before use spouses name which I’ve done in the past
I rang them and they said I couldn’t cancel as I’m in a contract until December
If your price is increasing, they have to allow you a period to leave. Have you received the email? Have you checked your predicted bills on MySky to see if you're affected by the price increase?
If they sent an email stating you can cancel ring them back and call out the email they sent you , if they still to the same line , lodge a complaint with comreg
I checked the letter again and it said I could cancel. Switched to Pure today so all good.
I called them and they said the price increase wasn't going to affect me even though the email clearly said it would. They said the increase won't happen until I'm out of contract.
I doubt but i asked multiple times.
I called Sky to cancel due to price increase and had to give them 30 days notice. I was told although you can cancel their services while in contract due to the price increase but 30 days notice is still required.
I may go with Pure deal.
That's if you are cancelling outright, it's not needed if you're switching and staying on the same access network (open eir, SIRO, NBI) as long as you give your UAN for the switch.
You can check your predicted bills on MySky to see if you are affected or not
Is there any possibility if you ring Sky to cancel they offer you an improved deal?
You'd have to re-contract for 12 months and I don't think you'd get the 500Mb for €30pm as you wouldn't be a new customer.
The 1Gb is not increasing in price so there may be wiggle room there but again you wouldn't be a new customer so probably won't get the new customer price of €35pm.
When i rang sky they gave me a new 12 month deal for 33 a month for 500mb and there wont be any increases until next April so was happy enough with that
Anyone can give some feedback on new vodafone 1gb router? I used to have it old black and was dropping signal very often.
Contract with sky ran out was €35 a month for 500mb, went up to €46, phoned Sky, was straight to the point, Virgin offer 500mb for €35 a month, if you can match I'll stay if not I'm of to Virgin, offered me 1Gb for €35 a month, done deal, all in it took 10 minutes on standby and 5 dealing with the Sky agent, dont procrastinate about it, phone them and get a deal or move.
I phoned sky today to get my Uan number to cancel as I can't access my online account.
They didn't even ask me on the cancellation team did I want to stay, they just said give your UAN to the new provider.
I'm going to the pure 30 a month offer
Had the exact same experience last week
had it this year, in fact its not bad Vs I had it a few years ago, assume VD has updated it,however will go back to VM if they cannot give a good discount for next term..
Sky did not entertain me.
Pulled the trigger on Pure Telecom €30/ month for 12 months.
I didnt even try talking to Sky. Applied for a call back on One switch, got a call from Pure 30min later. Hopefully move will be sorted in the next week or so.
I got an email from Pure. They will send the modem etc in the coming days.
I got a text off sky offering me 32 a month for the year
Have started with pure now so will stick with it, it's basically a month free compared to sky
Might be worth a call then?
stick with pure 👍
Good luck with Pure in 12 months - dreadful to try and renew with.
Just agreed to transfer to Sky.
why renew when you can switch and save, customer loyalty doesn’t exist anymore
I am planning on switching my parents broadband (via SIRO) from Sky to Pure Telecom. For ease of switching, can the sky hub/modem be used with Pure? I presume perhaps some PPPOE details may need to be changed, and if so, does the sky modem allow this?
5 minute call in total to speak to someone in Ireland on a good clear phone line didn't feel that 'dreadful' to me but YMMV
No the PPPoE details can't be changed in the Sky router. Sometimes it doesn't matter what details are entered with some providers and it will continue to work anyway. Sky will most likely want the router returned however.
Thanks, thats helpful! Not the end of the world if thats the case anyway - just a little extra work for me!
Yes your sky modem will work with pure, no need to change anything in there. The problem is that sky will ask for the modem to be returned. It is just plug and play the pure modem though ;-)
However you could change the SSID (WiFi name) and password on the Pure router to match the Sky router, so devices should automatically connect without having to re-enter details.
