I changed the car battery and the radio needed a code. Googled it and the code is at the back of the car manual in the glove box. If it's anything to do with theft then surely a thief would already have googled how to get the radio code.

Actually, as a non driver is there more or less use for car manuals than there used to be? I don't drive but i remember years ago the manuals had feck all info in them. But I'd imagine with all the electronics in them now, people might actually have to read them.
I think you only really use the manual when you want to fix something yourself and need to know the exact part to get. Simple things like air filters, oil filters, engine oil and brake fluid, brake pads. But you could just Google them. If you want to buy those parts you can use the car parts shop website and they'll tell you.
I used the manual a few weeks ago to find out the type of air conditioner gas my car needs. Also needed it to find the car battery this week, but the manual was in the car and I couldn't get into the car because the battery was flat. So just googled it instead.
