Fashion. the Burke current clothing style being black, the pun is in the use of the fashion term [orange is the new black] relating to a change in the clothing style. The term came from the memoire by Piper Kerman "my life in a women's prison" so the new thread title is probably even more appropriate. Personally, if I were a teenager, goth or religious, I'd be up in arms about the Burkes abuse of black, it's so naff.

A friend who's a Court officer told me that when the Burkes were in the Four Courts the noise they made was so bad that they disrupted the whole place, not just the court they were giving their performance in. You can see how much they are enjoying the attention, look at the expression on the face of she-Burke senior in any of the photos!
We should take 1 of our uninhabited islands, drop the burkes and crate of supplies on it, allow them to have their own fiefdom while the irish navy patrol to the waters around it to keep them there.

There was an article online about gardai failing to arrest them. They are the most arrogant family ever. What makes them think they can disrespect the courts like that?
They are not on the run. They are hiding inside. Gardai would likely need a warrant from the courts to enter the house.
Why wouldn’t they get a warrant?

This whole saga was never about religion. It's about money. Plain and simple.
But they will hardly get the chance to disrupt it by avoiding capture. They would just be arrested at the airport.

Look on the bright side. They are imprisoned at home, no popping out to shoot a new video, no work at the shop or visit to state property, no expense to the state, all's needed is for a Garda car to drive by every so often to keep them indoors.
The court order gives Gardaí the power to arrest them, so they don’t need a separate arrest warrant. But I would suspect entering and searching a house would be a bit different. The gardai would probably need reasonable grounds to believe the person is inside before forcing entry and they can’t just conduct a full search without a warrant.
If I was Enoch I would be furious, my 2 biggest cheerleaders championing my incarceration don't pony up when it is their turn.

Question: why has this thread not been subject to the same "before the courts" closures as others? I'm just curious, not saying I think it should have been locked.
There is nothing before the courts at the moment AFAIK.
The Mods have closed the thread on a number of occasions when the case is before the courts and reopened it subsequently.

@Hibernicis I don't recall it being closed as many times as these clowns have been before the courts. Could be wrong, though.
This looks like a win win
We are avoiding the cost of putting them in prison and they are out of the way.
If they stay in hiding and stay away from courthouses it takes away a lot of their oxygen.
Neither been a criminal or a jury case at any stage. Nothing discussed here is going to influence a judge.
