    Robbo -> Salah -> goal.

It's like 2019 all over again!

Mo off for Chiesa now please to keep him fresher for the Gala match in a few days. And Frimpong for Szobo.

I'd be doing it to a few players like that. Take a chance on Nyoni too, with possibly Rio going off so that the team is not too inexperienced. But also cos Rio won't last the 90 anyways.

Rio will be disappointed by not scoring, but he should absolutely be proud of that game.

Frimpong should have saved Szobo from that yellow.

    Lovely from Jones

    Good goal.

    Time to empty the bench

Lovely from Jones there. So much better second half.

    That should be that.

I'd say both teams would gladly swop results of the two matches this week.

That's a lot more like it.

Such a pity we weren't as incisive on Tuesday.

This is the perfect opportunity to rest Szoboszlai or MacAllister. Nyoni needs game time.

    Slot: Konate get ready.

Oof, you'd like to see Szobo just hit it from there - but nice of him to set up the kid instead.

<edit> should've probably scored 3 in the last few minutes!

Frimpong has done more and looked more dangerous at RW then Mo has done for months.

    Ibra 😱

    Ah sh1te

Szob and Robbo have to deal with that FFS

    Switched off

I do think Wolves have switched off completely now alright though. (Except for Chan of course!)

Another goal conceded after the 90 minute it’s getting ridiculous at this stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,441 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

90th minute, game was won, and they all wanted to have a chance at scoring such was the openness of Wolves in the last 10 mins. I'll give them the slack on that one!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,539 ✭✭✭✭rob316

I mean it's hard to be annoyed about that one when the game is well won but knock yourself out

Good stuff, on to the quarter finals. Hopefully get a nice home draw there, and then in with a real chance of a bit of silverware.

Stodgy first half, but the second was much better and more incisive.

This was more or less the same game as Tuesday but we had a couple of moments of quality tonight that made the difference.

Something I think we need to address in the summer is the lack of quality in wide areas. I include full backs and wingers.

I couldn’t give a flying **** about the FA Cup. We’ve seen teams make decisions based on winning it while failing in what matters. Ideally we’d lose in both Cups every January, it can only distract from important games in April / May.

Wolves got the better of us this week, I’d have traded the two results in a heartbeat.

Into the quarters, CL Tuesday will be tough enough - would love a draw- then Spurs will hopefully get a thumping, be happy with all that.

I know we haven't seen one of those mad Mo Salah stats this season, and they used to be flying around regularly over the previous 12 months but there's a new one tonight.

He has now outscored every single Man Utd player. Salah (for Liverpool) would now be the overall Man Utd top scorer on 254 goals. Their highest scorer has 253 - Rooney. He's also outscored a few other clubs respective top scorers - Atl Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea, borussia Dortmund, AC Milan amongst others.

Cup runs are always good fun. Not the ‘be all and end all’, but very enjoyable to win trophies, if the opportunity arises. Certainly wont be easy though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Glico Man

To add to the mad stat above, I read elsewhere this is just the 6th time in 30 years we've made the quarter finals of the cup. 50% of those we went all the way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,539 ✭✭✭✭rob316

Given how the season has went I wouldn't say no to the fa cup. Can't win the league and winning the cl is unlikely.

You did see Salah had a goal and proper assist tonight???

*proper as in he made the chance wasn’t just a handy pass

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 36,137 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Once again worth noting that everything good Salah did tonight was done within the width of the box. He's still a potentially dangerous player in that narrower channel. As an actual touchline hugging winger, Frimpong was much more effective out in those wide areas. There's room for both in the squad, and even the same team, used in different ways.

In his last 10 games, Salah has 4 goals and 4 assists. That would be pretty good for most players. Below his usually standards of course, but it would be a great time of the season for him to come into a bit of form now.

Huge potential for a nice draw in 1/4 final , any of bottom 4 fixtures at home would be nice. Would be great to see an upset for the big 3, all away from home
