Wonder is it cheaper to have a Garda sit outside and pretend to look for them or actually house them in jail. A quick google (so could be well off) has it around 280 a day per person, so 560 for the two.
It is better value to just sit outside and do nothing, with a typical garda wage per day being far less.
I would have immense pity for the arresting guards listening to mammy and Ammi ranting on their way to prison.

Danger money/an additional hardship payment would be in order or good quality ear protection and soundproof glass is the least the state could do
