Currently trying my best to turn the Lidl canned marrowfats into mushy peas. I find their canned mushy peas quite poor/watery.

I've added butter, salt, sugar, chilli flakes and cooking down slowly to evaporate the water. Will finish with a bit of lime juice. 👨‍🍳

White pepper, loads of white pepper not chili and loads of butter. Add salt to taste after, never needed sugar but then again I'm sweet enough 😁.

I'm not a fan of mint so I don't know if this is true, but a tiny bit of mint jelly/sauce or fresh mint (wild mint by preference) can up the flavour profile or so I'm told.

I suspect he's trying to recreate the macho peas from Nando's, hence the chilli.

    Never heard of those actually!

I was out of white pepper… couldn't find any in Lidl in recent weeks.

The deluxe Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is a superb bargain white wine. Tried it last weekend and it's very nice indeed

    What makes them macho?

Tesco mushy peas still the king for me, all the rest are crap.

You'd hzve to ask the Nando's marketing people that.

I always stock up on the jarred chickpeas during Spain and Portugal week. They are (IMO) the best supermarket chickpeas, much bigger and softer than any of the tinned ones.

They didn't have any of the roasted almonds this time though, another thing I try to stock up on.

I was on my way through swords and stopped off in Lidl beside Dunnes Stores on the Rathbeale Road.

They have bags of mixed items on sale for the sticker price on the bag. For example, I just bought a bag for €5 that contained a multi-function hook (I could hang bike on it), a 30m 9.5mm multi-purpose rope, 4 paint brushes (set), a 5m roll of 80 grit sandpaper medium grit, a 5m roll of 240 grit very fine, and a 5000mah power bank.

I spent €25 - another bag in the car cost €10 and I am happy with what I could see in the contents, and this exact kit for €10 - sorry I couldn't find it on the lidl sites.

They have loads of other bags, clothing items (trouse, shorts, socks, and other items all in one bag were €5)

For example these two bags €10 each. First is a mash-up of many items including two of the small stackable sets that sell for €4.99 on their own and a smart plugs hub and two smart plugs.

I do not know if it is in every Lidl but definitely worth having a look and a rummage.

P.S. there seemed to be bags for everything, kids toys, garden stuff and so on.

    P.P.S - The bag prices that I could see were €5, €10, €15, €20 and €30.

My local store had a limp cabbage 😅

Same in my store yesterday. Picked up a pair of trainers and a T shirt + few other bits (battery powered nasal hair remover!) in the bag for a tenner.

They also had large tool kits (okay, maybe not premium quality) for 10 euros I think.

    Lidl's black pudding is good.

My local Lidl doesn't stock it. We need to go to Asda.

Good to see an expanded selection of organic products.

We now have celery, potatoes, carrots, cucumber, beetroot, avocadoes, apples, canned kidney beans and chickpeas, and salmon I think, just going from what I remember from my local store.

Are there any options for organic beef or chicken?
