Reports stating that Israel have launched an attack against Iran
You put it better than I did, and yes, that pretty much sums it up
He's driving up the price of oil/inflation in the US while spending billions without any apparent strategy or end in sight,I don't think that will help him or his parties popularity, it's only a distraction for a short time and then it will be another black mark against him.
The point is they shouldn't be in those hellhole countries in the first place. No sympathy for them at all. The victims here are in Iran and Lebanon, not the holidaymakers in modern slave states who get rescued when things go wrong
Delightful
Gulf states considering voiding those massive investments in the US economy. I wonder if the Emir of Qatar asks for his jumbo jet back ?
Ah sure it was grand letting Iran export its terrorism through the middle east for decades. So what if they armed and supported Hamas and Hezbollah. And so what if they sent missiles and drones to Russia to ne used against Ukraine. They are a long way from us still. And what harm if they got a nuclear weapon.
Avoiding the Middle East for transiting from Asia / Australia often requires an extra flight or spending a lot more money. I am booked to fly through Doha with my wife later this year because the alternative was $500 more per person through Turkey or $600 more through Germany. Truth be told, I didn't put much thought into where I was flying through and I've never flown through the Middle East before.
I sort of get your anger but I will also allow myself to be upset if I get stranded in the Middle East. I am not a machine, and neither are others getting stranded. Not everyone is a holidaymaker. There'd be people travelling for weddings and funerals etc.
But what's the plan, none, bomb away and leave civil war for ever more.
Trump is on pretty great terms with Saudi Arabia who have been funding terrorism for decades including 911. In fact he's in the process of allowing them to build their own nukes if they so wish.

Yeah fair enough my comments were perhaps a bit over the top. It's just an anger about how the inconvenience of wealthy westerners is individualised, whereas whole communities being terrorised in this war are anonymised and treated as mere numbers. Israel and USA are conducting a blatant war of aggression and the rest of the world seems to be sitting by and watching
and don’t forget the alphabet soup of Islamist terrorists who were able to travel freely between Syria and Europe to commit mass murder were supported by Israel and Turkey too.
No different from a country which created Contras, al Qaeda, ISIS….
Its all bad never mind who does it.
The Saudi Government did not cause 9/11. Blaming them for that would be like blaming the Irish government for the docklands bomb in the U.K.
Do you accept the Iran government directly supplied and supported the likes of Hamas and Hezbollah, and wanted to get nuclear weapons?
The war should stop. USA can declare victory, Iran can do the same. Everyone should move on and let people live their lives in peace.
Question 1 - there were 19 hijackers in 9/11, how many were Saudi?
Question 2 - Iraq was invaded in response to 9/11 - how many of the 19 hijackers were Iraqi?
Wealthy Saudi Arabians did fund the likes of Al Qaeda. Fifteen of the hijackers were Saudi. On top of that, Saudi Arabia is similarly awful for human rights, are you okay with them having nuclear weapons, cause apparently the US does not mind.
I accept that Iran did support such groups. Their progress towards nuclear weapons was very much so unclear. And they very much so amount to a remotely immediate threat to the US according to US intelligence. After this invasion though, they may end up with a more extreme Iranian state. US relations with allies have been severely damaged and they appear to be doing nation building with a state that is also committing genocide. So I think you are completely lacking in nuance on the topic.
Would everyone have lived their lives in peace if Iran continued to supply Hamas and Hezbollah, and acquire nuclear weapons?
Who cares about over 30,000 protestors shot by the regime in Iran in January and Feb. alone, or the women protesters who were beaten, sexually assaulted, raped (including gang rape and rape with objects), stripped naked and tortured?
While I condemn Hamas, the conflict was going on for decades before there was a Hamas, and stems from the occupation and forced displacement of the Palestinians. I do not believe it is just to punish people for something their ancestors did in wars decades before they were born. We don't treat Germany like that.
Its true that Iran has been sponsoring them and Hezbollah. But there was no Hezbollah until Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982.
In both cases, Iran opportunistically involved itself in the conflicts but the conflicts already existed.
A poll a few days ago found 41% of Americans now sympathise more with the Palestinians, compared to 26% with the Israelis. First time since 2001.
Wasn't it Afghanistan that was invaded due to 9/11 ?
Except regime change is looking progressively less likely atm. Previous US intervention in the middle east has resulted in the creation of the likes of ISIS. So this may end up spawning new terrorist groups that will attack the west. In fact, I'd say it's particularly likely since it's coming across as incredibly poorly planned.
So doing something like this, absolutely does not mean that positive consequences will follow. In fact, based on history negative ones follow.
Yes both. The Afghanistan invasion made logical sense because Bin Laden was hiding there. Taliban still running the place. I used Iraq as an example because of the similarity with Iran around WMDs.
They were both part of the vaguely named "War on Terror" which is still ongoing. A forever war.
Nuclear Weapons are for defence.
It's kind if hard to argue right now that they were not right to need them.
What do you think?
Some of the US losses and what they cost.
You would be quite happy for Hamas or Hezbollah to have access to a nuclear weapon? Given their stated aim is to annihilate Israel?
Has the penny dropped yet?
You need to ask yourself what prompted Hamas and Hezbollah creation.
And who cares about 1.000.000 of dead Iraqi people? Or over 1.500.000 dead Vietnamese people? Or 75.000 Palestinians?
Is your outrage selective to Iranian civilians only?
Calm down. Take a few steps back. There is no one happy anyone has nuclear weapons. Especially these lunatics.

Some posters here have had their brains already nuked by too much Daily Mail etc…
I havent really seen evidence that is Hezbollah's goal. If we were to apply the same test to things Israeli ministers and generals have said and done, I think they can be charged with acting to anhiliate the Palestinians particularly the indiscriminate violence, destruction of property, blocking food and medicine getting in for months.
Also I dont think Israeli lives are superior to Palestinian lives. All civilian lives are equal.
How come there are not thousands of war victims in Quatar or Saudi Arabia or Bahrain, imperfect as those countries are (no country is perfect).
Who cares about over 30,000 protestors shot by the regime in Iran in January and Feb. alone
There has been ZERO evidence put forth to back this figure up.
It's an estimated figure that appears to have been put into the news cycle by an organisation called Iran International, an exile satellite news outfit who later reduced that figure to 6,634 confirmed total deaths on all sides.
Another human rights organisation, HRANA, that's actually on the ground in Iran published their confirmed figure of 7,007 deaths on 23 February. There were able to do this by gathering the names of the dead.
While these numbers are shocking in themselves and are no doubt are subject to rise, they are nowhere near to this 30,000 figure that is getting blithely repeated by certain quarters.
