David Byrne: Tiny Desk Concert
Happy to have 3Arena tickets but its good to see a quick return
I'm guessing the summer show will be a 'standard stage'
I assume the show will be identical as well given the format?
Id imagine so yeah given the production. He wont be calling audibles.
I think I'll get tickets for St Annes as well. I live nearby, so good chance to have some people over, then head to a good gig.
Surely do a Cork gig, Marquee and Virgin media park running gigs that time of year.
nah, too expensive for marquee and not popular enough for virgin media park. Plus he has a very full tour itinerary
He would be popular enough for VM Park as much as Stereophonics were last year
Neil young hasn’t sold out Virgin media park. No chance for David Byrne in cork
We're an odd nation
Amble can sell out there but still a support band for Dermot Kennedy
Id imagine if David Byrne wasn't playing 3Arena in March then maybe a St Annes/VM park double would be possible
you are vastly overestimating his appeal in the south of Ireland. 15,000 is alot of tickets to sell in cork
Yeah top of the list of genres down South is Irish Rock/Pop. Give them Coronas or Picture this anyday over legit international artists
Byrne is the ultimate urbanite New York hipster. When he sang "I wouldn't live there if you paid me" on The Big Country, he was basically talking about Cork 😜
anyone know who/if there's a support act for the 3arena gig?
no support on this European run.
100%. I love him but I do wonder if the St Annes gig will sell out. His Irish audience is hipster boomers and hipster millennials. Boomers less likely to trek to the northside and stand in a field.
The main obstacle to the St Anne's show selling out is the price imo, I already know I am going to love the 3arena show and would pay to see the udentical show again in St Anne's in a heartbeat if it went for that standard 60-70 quid for an outdoor field Summer gig, but the prices now for an identical show in an inferior venue is not enticing me I have to say
arlo parks is great though as support for et Anne’s
True, I wonder though if her music would "translate" well in an outdoors venue.
In any case, the date made the decision for me, I will be on holidays. But really looking forward to the 3Arena gig. If memory serves well, I haven't seen him since 2004, so very excited.
Thats fair I suppose
Managed to get a resale ticket there just now. This should be "fun" to say the least, in light of current events…
Me too, delighted to get it. Am also going to the St. Anne's Park gig in June, but reckon indoors might be better for full 'immersion' in the gig. Would have been happy with either show but now I'm getting fussy!
Got Block H tickets front row
Expecting to not see some visuals but should be ok
Suppose €69 price bracket and all that
Just looked there on setlist.fm given there's no support - he's been on stage no later than 8.10pm the last few gigs in case anyone's planning on getting grub beforehand.
Better than rushing for the 7pm start like my last few 3Arena shows
You'd be surprised how tight a time it can be
Is that show not cancelled ? Neil Young I mean ?
Yeah but I think he might have been saying that when it was not cancelled he wasn't selling the venue out so therefore David Byrne could not.
Great that is an 8ish start and done by 10...can be a blessing when travelling across the country.
Short review in the Guardian of his show in Cardiff giving it five stars.
So excited for next week 🙌🏼
