Reports stating that Israel have launched an attack against Iran
Your posts on this thread have a smug tone of glee to them, you'd do well to remember that innocent people are being killed in these attacks. Something you'd be jumping up and down about if it were Israelis being killed.
Yes as my screenshot showed it was Ireland, unusual to have a discrepancy but however 2 MEP's abstaining is not exactly uncommon when they were 2 of 148. They haven't stated their reasons so cannot assume what they were.
I am more than happy to engage in respectful and considerate debate on the topic of the thread, that is, the war between Israel/USA and Iran, and the fast-moving events that surround that conflict. Some folks want to make it a discussion on me, and I have no interest in going tit for tat on that.
That’s very thin as Oman did not permit any access to their ports for this attack on Iran
They like many countries distanced themselves and still got attacked. They also have a history of neutrality and mediating with Iran which you think would have counted for something
It’s fascinating seeing how far people would bend over backwards to excuse the inexcusable
What’s next Ireland gets bombed because we have a McDonald’s Americans might eat in or a datacenter which was used in planning of this attack
why not this ain’t the first time either, they also voted against helping Ukraine defend themselves against colonial invaders who are allied to Iran
Some sort of pattern there no?
“Speaking in Seanad Éireann, Senator Clifford Lee posed the question as to why Sinn Féin abstained from the resolution in the European Parliament. “This resolution condemns the slaughter of 30,000 people by the Iranian authorities, condemning the use of execution as a tool of oppression of the people of Iran condemning the treatment of women and supporting the women, life, freedom and pain. Clifford Lee said: “30,000 people have been slaughtered by the Iranian authorities over the last number of weeks in an attempt to suppress and uprising. People are being executed in their hospital beds, being shot in the head, yet still two Sinn Fein MEPs abstained on this resolution. She added: “This regime in Iran is extremely evil, yet Sinn Féin cannot bring themselves to condemn this evil regime. I, and the people of Ireland are watching what you’re doing, you cannot get away with your actions without any notice.
It's good that Trump had the foresight to maintain good relations with the Kurds and did not famously sell them down the river a number of years ago.
Says a man that enjoys war 🙂
The logic I see is that if Iran is legitimately allowed to attack Oman, for its quite benign and soft support of the US, then surely Israel is legitimately allowed to attack Iran, given the overt support Iran has given to groups like Hamas and Hezbollah?
Fair enough. Perhaps we will never know.
I will say that in my 8 previous employers, women were by and large the best managers. I suppose they had to be good to progress.
Yes, and the Baloch peoples could also see this as an opportunity. There is a risk of a chaotic fragmentation of Iran.
I think I'll watch Hypernormalisation again this week. Seems apt with the US having its policy dictated by Israel and these leaders facing a world that is far more complex than the human mind was made to handle.
Very strange Rubio saying they had to attack Iran because Israel had already decided to bomb Iran, themselves. I wonder why he revealed that information?
Wasn't Bibi supposed to be gone by now. What happened there, perhaps one of the israeli supporters here could answer that,?
And this is exactly what people mean by the collapse of the rule based order (although I would question if there ever really was one).
That went very well for them in Syria in the last number of months. Completely stabbed in the back and they want to do the same again in Iran
It’s worse than that
This excusing of clearly deliberate Iranian attacks by Iranians against civilian housing an infrastructure {aka war crimes} trying to recreate the terror visited on Ukraine for 5 years right across the gulf
Undermines all those arguments the same posters made about Gaza and attacks on civilian infrastructure there or operations in Iran itself
Pretty much every gulf state clearly and loudly distanced themselves from the what they knew as potentially brewing conflict
And they still got attacked
Iran wants a world without laws and conventions, well that sword cuts both ways, something that the supporters of the Aytollah FC fail to realise
The rules based order has been gone for a while and that can't just be blamed on Iran. Trump and Israel, genocide FC and their supporters here have been happy for this to be the case.
Yea, it could risk the country splitting and fragmenting, but its also a shot across the bow to a regime, who may well decide, are those red lines about nuclear enrichment worth it, if you don't have a whole country anymore. Surely there are some corrupt members of the IRGC who are pragmatic enough to just say, OK, you win. We give up all our nuclear ambitions, we give up having an arsenal of missiles and we will stop funding the likes of Hamas. In return, the upper echelons get filthy rich, oil can start flowing again to the global market and the country has more cash to play with.
Its all about China and oil
Definite pattern of double tap bombings by Israel and the US. Deliberate targeting of emergency response personnel. Guess that is what the secretary of war meant when saying no rules of engagement. War criminals
I thought the post from Zelensky on Iran was very good and strong. I'll post it again. But there is a grim irony that Iranian Shahed drones that have been targeting Ukraine for 4 years were universally condemned as war crimes, suddenly these same Iranian drones are targeting civilian infrastructure in the ME, are brushed of with a "what do you expect". I cant make heads or tails about it. But the only fact is that Israel is on side of the equation, which then fills in the rest.
I'm sure there's no connection between Trump's decision to seize Venezuelan oil, and starting a war in the Gulf that's going to massively upset oil commodities.
I clearly detest that deplorable Trump turd this war he started may yet undo his own regime
But the Axis of Resistance Irans supreme leader embraced predates him back back to 2010s
They and their allied buddies in Russia and N Korea embraced same ideology in early 10s
A world without rules and laws where might is right and it’s ok to colonise countries in your “sphere of influence”
The problem for Iran and Co is that they now met someone worse than them in Trump and Netanyahu whom no longer care either about those concepts
You either
I identify as 1 on this list
Many on this thread only think in binary terms and can not see past deplorable teams 2 and 3 bending backwards to excuse criminal behaviour, while bleating about Irelands neutrality without a shred of irony
I guess they saw Israel do the same so they thought, why not. Any civilian death in Iran can be handwaved away by the fact that the regime is despotic and helped Russia against Ukraine.
I have heard of some members of the IRGC defecting (to whom I don't know).
I could speculate about a IRGC-led coup, or fighting between factions of the IRGC, who knows. But there are a lot of guns left in Iran, even if the ballistic missiles and launchers are taken out.
The outcome could be very messy for the people of Iran, I fear.
Worth noting too, that the targets in Iran are political as well as military. The building of the Supreme Council Gathering was destroyed, but empty at the time.
I have heard that the CIA have passed a white list of IRGC members to leave alone, approx 10 people. That is, they are not to be harmed or taken out. It may be that these are members who are corrupt enough or moderate enough (or both) that can be used to strike a deal. There have also been rumours of infighting between the regular army and the IGRC. All speculation, but who knows. The best case is that someone comes to power and makes a deal, and gets on with it.
Ah no, Netanyahu and his lapdog Trump really care about the fate of the Iranian people. It's a humanitarian mission.
They should tell him to f off. Lool what happened to them in Syria recently, USA were not there to help them.
And it could be that that someone will be a friendly client to the US and Israel, but just as authoritarian to the people of Iran as were the previous regime.
I've read that some of the US-favoured potential leaders have been killed.
Hearts and minds 🤣
