Reports stating that Israel have launched an attack against Iran
No you ran away. A pattern. You won't even respond to my argument. Address it now sure. I am game.
Kuwait is part of Greater Israel. How would it go down with President Trump if there was a coup there?
a sudden decisive exercise of force in politics and especially the violent overthrow of an existing government by a small group
This is going to be a conflict measure, not in days or years, but weeks.
Analyst on CNN quotes 4-6 weeks. Once they started, they may as well finish the job. Especially seeing as it appears they now have the upper hand.
I spent the last couple of weeks thinking as the armada was building up. "Surely he is just posturing, he isn't going to attack Iran, the consequences of it are just too far reaching for that region and the world"
Go ahead and invade Afghan and Iraq it doesn't effect the region, picking a war with the largest armed forces in the ME and no shortage of enemies including Israel is a disaster.
Iran don't need a Navy to cripple shipping.
The threat of it alone makes insurers withdraw cover, which happened this week.
Does Israel have nukes?
Many of Donald Trumps buddies that own Arms factories will make huge monies out if all the bombs needed to bomb Iran … plus another tranch of Trumps friends involved in oil business will make money out of the spike in the oil prices … Trumps looking after his donors
You would think people would learn from Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya that these sorts of interventions never go well. Though sometimes the negative consequences are only seen after a few years.
They have air superiority but if regime change isn't achieved without "putting boots on the ground", strap in we are in for a long one. Iran have a large armed forces and militia.
It would help if they knew what their own military objectives were for a start
They are believed to, yes.
And what regime will be next? Who will lead it? Which factions in Iran will take charge? Will US oversee elections (yeah right!)?
What authority will be acceptable when people know that it was enabled by Israel who recently committed a genocide against subhuman muslims? How will that new regime gain legitimacy? Will there be decades of instability in Iran leading to even more terrorism?
They cannot 'finish the job' as that would mean boots on the ground. After the mess that was Afghanistan and Iraq, even the thickest American hawks would know this would be electoral suicide.
I would fear for the new regime if it doesnt have the army on its side. Perhaps though that would not be enough as seen in Afghanistan. This talk of getting the job done in a few weeks is extremely myopic.
I don't see the link.
If you are in favour of the removal of the despotic Iranian regime, you support what the US is doing, if you aren't, you don't.
International law is flawed if it doesn't allow for the removal of regimes like Maduro, the Taliban and the Ayatollahs.
Reading all the comments on the Daily Mail comments, extolling the virtues of America/Israel is seriously giving me Iraq, circa 2003 vibes. The clapping seals are chanting -U-S-A-
Honestly there is no point replying to this post. Read it back to yourself. To live in such a black and white world must be very very very boring. And a little weird. I would bet you would be a lifelong Trump voter if you were American.
Re Taliban - who rules Afghanistan now? Jaysus. Epic fail. Good day Sir.
The Houthi's never had a navy.
I get from your posts on anything Palestine related that you are in the US and appear to have gone native when it comes to anything Israel related. But really, as an Irish person in particular, do you not have an ounce of critical thinking when it comes to this blatant aggression by colonial powers? And before you go on with it, yes the regime in Iran is bad, as is the regime in America and Israel.
International law is flawed as there is no international policeman. Even international courts are ignored. People should be able to recognize the disastrous consequences of American regime changes these last few years and their effects on the Middle East and Europe. If posters want to cheerlead for this, have at it.
I posted this a couple of days ago.
I would love to see the regime overthrown in Iran. Religious leaders running a country using terror is beyond ludicrous in 2026. It's an awful pity that people power didn't overthrow the regime earlier this year in their bloody uprising because a regime change facilitated by Israel/US will be far more complex that an Iranian-only instigated regime change. Iran has a long history of foreign intervention (Britain, Russia, USA) and that shapes political psychology today. Many Iranians are strongly nationalist and foreign backed regime change (especially by Israel!) could have a stigma. There will be a political vacuum if the regime falls and I am sure there will be many "factions" that want to take power. A successor authority could be tainted by association - puppet of USA, proxy of Israel etc. Perception is often crucial. That foreign narrative would be very useful to the hardliners in the old regime (e.g. Revolutionary Guard). Any successor government will face legitimacy problems inside Iran and holding power could be difficult. Iran is also a huge diverse country so there is a massive risk of fragmentation with relgional, ethnic, religious and political fault lines.
There are historical parrallels. Most recently Iraq's government struggled very badly after 2003 with legitimacy after the US led overthrow. Afghanistan after 2001 had persistent legitimacy problems tied to foreign backing.
You can also dislike 99% of what Trump does yet still support his actions in Venezuela, Iran and getting peace in Gaza.
Qatar claimed to have shot down two Iranian jets
No proof has ever been provided as to whether Israel has nukes!
We can neither confirm nor deny * wink *
Dude. It's the worst pretend secret in history of pretend secrets.
Genocide is genocide no matter who carries it out.
There are reasons why people only criticise Israel.
The chavista regime is still there in Venezuela. He basically received a bribe from the despotic government there. Why should anyone support that?
I wonder why no one has been able to prove it, that's very odd, don't you think?
High pressure situation, many systems are automated, looks like a friendly fire incident. Yes it's very possible to shoot down aircraft under those circumstances, anti-air is very advanced now.
