Prima Facie sold out in about four minutes. I know it was the Gaiety but I was surprised with no queue or waiting room.
Gawd, what a twatty attitude.
€80+ for a standing ticket to sex pistols 😮
For a 70 minute show
not being twatty. It’s just the reality.
Ireland punches above its relative weight for international tours. We do far better than Scotland does tbh. but this belief that ireland is owed at least one date whenever a band tours Europe doesn’t meet the reality of the situation.
I just checked their tour dates.
Skipping most European countries. Less than a month in Europe. Massive countries with populations of multiples of us only getting a single date, if at all. France getting a single festival date. Complain about promoters all you want, but using this Wilco tour as a reason is utterly moronic. Wilco are skipping most European countries, and clearly can't be arsed with more than a handful of dates here that fit in with a few festival appearances.
This thread is getting more agenda driven by the day. It used to be a lot more enjoyable. And there's more than one of ye in it.
Have to agree with Fan Irish. Dublin punches way above its weight when it comes to gigs. It’s the reason why this thread is so busy compared to the rest of boards.
When you ran out of semi-credible excuses we get a "off to London with you". Typical.
It does.
Dublin does extremely well, I think part of this is due to Denis Desmond being CEO of Livenation UK.
We're a B country that scores well above it's weight compared to other B countries, I have no idea why pointing this out is so offensive to people. Wilco aren't personally sitting there drawing a red X through Ireland.
Agreed.Same three or four idiots who try and speak over people and people using text speak as an adult is beyond lame!Grow up and get a life!
Yes . My thoughts too.
No John Lydon either .
Ireland is not dublin.....
Do we think we'll see kexp favs Angine De Poitrine this summer in EU?
And where would they pop up? One off show or which fest?
Only gap is from late July to early Sept.
One can appreciate all the reasons put forward AND still be disappointed at the same time…😆
They've got so much coverage I doubt if there isn't a proper tour in the works.
Was thinking the Glass beams slot in ATN. Hopefully there was time to grab them
Maybe its the small standing area with the curtain up
Got a seated ticket €69 (yes i know sitting for a punk gig & all that)
November/December the new June, Papa Roach, Interpol/Bloc Party, maybe Shinedown, Sex Pistols
Tried to get Shinedown tickets earlier but didnt seem there any left in the presale so will try on Friday
yeah had a look out of interest
surprised it 'sold out' in the presale
For large bands it is though. And from an economical pov it makes sense for them to play only Dublin.
They're fantastic, doesn't look like they've done any touring really, but if they do I hope it's not a bloody festival.
Just saw that the Antlers are playing Whelans next Friday, don't remember it being mentioned here. €28 not bad. Last time I saw them was in the Olympia in 2014, I remember it being only half full and underwhelming.
Not much call for this kinda thing here, sadly. Granted there is a (gimmicky?) buzz surrounding them at the mo. More broadly psych and garage rarely gets an "in" in Dublin.
To the person who was on about Wilco the other day, I heard this morning they added a couple of new shows elsewhere in Europe so maybe they will make it to Dublin yet.
Would be awesome.
Overmono Are playing the Guiness Storehouse on the 16th of March, tickets go on sale on the Guiness Storehouse website on March 2nd at 12pm
Sorry, I should have clarified it's only a dj set
Nice. Isn't there usually a crossover woth the Guinness gigs and ATN? Hope they are tapped up to play down in Waterford.
yeah ATN bookers are usually the ones booking those shows for Diageo
