Hoping a New Thread may fix the posting issues.
Atletico Madrid through, looks like them or Galatasaray next
Draw Friday at 11am
Newcastle might put a number up here, Qarabag must be in the running for the highest number of goals conceded in a 3-game stretch ever. They conceded 6 against us, and 6 against Newcastle in the first leg.
Going to the Spurs match on Sunday 15th ,is there a chance it could be moved to 14th? 🤦♂️
Not a fan of playing a team we've already played this season but I'd be wanting Atletico for sure
You going over? (Might have it wrong but I think you're the poster who goes regularly?)
Odd one that they're both sides we played in the league phase. I'm not sure which one I'd prefer to end up with…
We should beat either if we're serious.
As long as we don't face the winner of PSG v Barcelona in the quarters.
I am heading over too.
There is a slim chance.
Waiting Fridays UCL draw
Any player from Bodo Glint worth looking at? 😀
Not that regularly these days, sadly. Few league games each season (I am going this weekend, coincidentally)
I used to live in Bristol and drove up for every European game, they're always class nights
I'd rather Gala for sure, but agree that if we're serious about the CL we should be beating either
Also going this weekend!
If anyone wants a nice omen, the last 3 home games I have been to have all finished 3-0.
The 2024 final was brilliant for what the young lads did, will always be remembered, but is the analysis a tad revisionist?
Salah, Nunez, Szoboszlai, Matip, Trent, Jota, Jones and Thiago were all out injured for the 2024 final. That's the only reason Clark, Danns, McConnell, Nyoni, Koumas and Danns were all on the bench and allowed Harvey to play the full 120 (albeit he was established as a squad player). Klopp did bring on Clark (72), McConnell (87) and Danns (87), which you could certainly argue was brave, but Wembley finals are notorious for tiring players more than the norm.
In the 2022 final, when we had a fully fit squad, the bench was Konate, Tsimikas, Milner, Ox, Harvey, Minamino, Jota and Origi. It wasn't a case that Klopp didn't trust young players in 2022, it was that there were better players available.
Klopp was undoubtedly better at rotating players than Slot is, but in 2024 when the injured players returned, Clark, McConnell, Danns, Nyoni, Koumas saw very little further action.
To us...? 🤣
Last game I was at finished 3-0 too... to Forest 😬
I've been to 3 games this season. UTD, Forrest and PSV..............🫣
I've been warned by close friends and family to stay well clear of the place!
Ah yeah, you're banned 🤣🙈
Thankfully yes.
My last defeat was back in the Hodgson season, but the defeat was to Hodgson's WBA 🙈
I’m not really sure if playing games it’s going to be overly detrimental to a young player. I would think the intense training schedule, preseason etc etc that he is doing regardless of playing matches is likely as hard or harder on the body than playing matches especially if they don’t go to town playing him all game every game.
I'd be very surprised if training is intense during the season, especially for a club that can play multiple times a week.
Short and sweet sessions to maintain fitness and work on tactics rather than have the lads sweating it for hours.
I think this guy has some credibility. He was on the money about Wirtz anyway.
In short, Yan Diomande in, Gakpo out.
I agree.
As you point out though, the time he brought the players on another manager could have kept going with the players on the field hoping the more experienced would win in within normal time.
We need one extra winger if we are going to stay playing 433 not one in and one out.
Its no big deal as im getting the 7am flight from Dublin , it's just gonna be a long day ! Lol first world problems
Very true. Apparently Diomande can play wide left and wide right, but not at the same time.
Don't know about credibility but he can spew serious verbal diarrhoea.
Just watching Madrid here tonight. Trent is absolutely stinking the joint out. All the same defensive issues he had with us and none of the offensive benefits he gave us.
I think Gakpo will be be gone in the summer regardless.
He's pretty limited and how he has got so many minutes this season is absolutely baffling.
He should be our 5th choice attacker.. It's the only way he makes sense for us.
He's a useful sub and can definitely contribute starting in 20/60 games a year. Cups, early champions League and games between important games where we need to rotate.
He has no business in our best 11
played a stunning classic Trent ball to put Valverde through - Valverde fluffed his control, but the pass the awesome.
That's him in a nutshell at times, though. Is the one stunning pass worth the countless number of times he's exposed on his wing? Quality player, of course, but too many lapses.
Thought Galatasaray would be tough opposition but Juve really have pulled out a second half performance to male you wonder about them as an opposition.
Good at home, away different story
