https://www.boards.ie/discussion/comment/124249416#Comment_124249416There's another 4K release starring Brad Pitt here as well.
There's also some big news for Doctor Who fans from the BBC. They have announced that both the 90 minute UK cut & U.S. International Cut of Doctor Who: The TV Movie is going out on 4K Blu-Ray this year.
Fantastic film they went to great lengths with the cinematography at the time. Great story too..
No, but I meant to post as I saw it on Amazon, out in April, I think. Thanks for the reminder.
Just checking when it releases over here and looks like 23rd of March. Might pick it up when it releases.
I wonder if Fincher has made any tweaks to the film.
Even some of the top reviewers on YouTube are describing it as possibly the best 4k they have done. I've never seen so much excitement over a 4k.
Im definitely getting it.
I have a dvd of the fully uncut version, unless the 4k is as complete as that i wont be buying it.
Didn't think this was released until the end of next month. Definitely buying it when I can.
I think most of the reviews I've seen are from the US where it has already been released.
Has anyone seen Open Range starring Kevin Costner and the late Robert Duvall & Michael Gambon before?
If yes; what's your view on this movie; is it any good? There is an article about advocating to Disney for creating a remastered 4K & Blu-ray release of this film in the U.S. & Worldwide by Bill Hunt of The Digital Bits.
I wouldn't mind owning a 4K Blu-ray copy of this movie as I already own Unforgiven on 4K Blu-ray although I haven't watched it yet.
If you're a fan of westerns then this is very good. Nothing ground breaking. Solid story, good acting, nicely filmed, solid rounded characters. Everything just works and works well.
Most good films are improved in 4k. Sound, music and anything with lots of landscapes. Which this does.
Hi …. I was in Golden Discs Athlone yesterday and they had a small selection at the end of a rack about 40 titles.I hadnt got a phone with me so no picture unfortunately. But looking at the website there seems to be a much bigger selection on it .The also had 4k versions of the top 10 titles.
Only watched dot the once when it first came out but I remember it being pretty good.
Coming in May from Arrow. Nightbreed also contains the extended directors cut in 4k.
Full sure Arrow released that Nightbreed 4k before. I have the blu ray of it but will have to buy. Would like if it contained the cabal cut
I hope the Dollars trilogy is better than the Ritrovata scans from about 10 years ago that were colour timed in piss yellow. Whoever was responsible for over seeing that must have been colour blind.
Ritrovata
They came out last year, it's just that they are releasing a boxset now so plenty of reviews of the scans online. I imported the kino lorber ones ages ago long before arrow announced these so haven't bought them. still kind of tempted though……..
They came out last year
Passed me right by.
Iirc the directors cut in the last release was not 4k and the re-release is. I dont think there is any hope the Cabal cut ever gets released by a big label and tbh it doesn't add anything. The directors cut is the definitive version imo.
Recent announcement from Synapse of some 80s classics.
Buster Keaton's The General up for pre order now, they had teased this was coming a while ago:

Gone with the Wind is going to be released on 4K Blu-ray in September.
Thank the physical media gods for Radiance - the best in the business.
Rather nice looking Kurosawa 8 movie 4k set coming in Oz later this year.
I'll be picking this up for sure.
Warner Archive is releasing this documentary in April.
Arrow Video is releasing The Complete Series of Stranger Things on 4K Blu-ray.
The release date is the 27th of July.
