It was utterly bizarre, neither have ever shown any ability to compete in the air, how Farrell thought they would is beyond me, never mind the fact they kept doing it when it was clear to anyone it wasn't working.
And yet jgp was to blame???
Some of you are going to have a real tough time explaining things away if it doesn't go well without Sam in the team. A very tough time indeed.
Crowley having a tackle success over 66%, getting easy kicks and managing to not run back over his own tryline, will make his selection 100% the right call regardless of whether Ireland win the game
I don’t think anybody is saying starting Jack over Sam is a panacea for all the ills this team are currently facing. Nor is that expectation a reasonable one. But it might be for some the of issues we saw from 10 recently.
Like, how would you say, on balance, it went without Sam in the team last weekend vs with him? Even allowing for the awful kick, you’d be hard pushed to say it didn’t go well… It’s clearly the right selection at 10.
We kept doing it so early on phase play as well. There was a period in the 2nd half, just after the 2 tries when we had some momentum where once from JGP and twice from Prendergast, we kicked a contestable in either 1st or 2nd phase. After getting on purchase from it all game, and where we had made some in roads playing thru the phases. It was bizarre.
can the Prendergast Police take the week off now he’s not in 23?
That 7% difference is going to be crucial.
The long grass is shorter day by day
Now do it across the entire season i.e. a bigger sample size.
Are quoted stats ever tested for statistical significance? Very rarely as far as I can see.
Well at least some of us are willing to put our necks on the line in predicting an outcome.
Very easy to sit on the fence and take a side afterwards.
So much for everyone rowing in behind the team and showing their support regardless of selection
The single most laughable post made in this absolute ****-show of a thread. Get out of it.
Ya, like the OP here drawing comparisons between Sam and Jack’s tackling because of a 7% difference off a lowly 54 minute sample for Jack doesn’t tell us anything. Any honest assessment of their tackling, currently, can only come to the conclusion that there is no comparison.
Jesus man stop embarrassing yourself in front of everyone for your own sake
So is he injured or is it conjecture to fit some individuals agenda
It was mentioned on a podcast last Monday that Ringrose was a concern.
Anyone who uses 'stats' rather than their own eyes to make a point here should be banned going forward..
Tongue in cheek of course!
Now That Crowley is in at 10, there is no reason for Ireland to underperform.
You’re gas ! 😂😂😂😂keep going….
no reason to have a slow weak bean pole who can’t tackle at 10
MOD: This has gone on enough. Stop with the pejoratives. Contribute constructively or don't contribute
Including - for example - at scrum time? That pretty much decided the game vs SA, for example.
But this is another example of how some posters on here conflate the performance of the team and the performance of the individual.
"Am I still on this feckin' island"
.
Can you give me tomorrow's lotto numbers too
?
If the outcome on Saturday is a chastening defeat, I'll point the finger in the direction of where I think the blame lies for that defeat, based on the performances of the players involved and the decisions of the coaches.
I won't be - oh, I dunno, for example - pre-emptively taking shots at a player before the game even starts.
Recent posts are good examples of why I always took issue with the notion that the pro-Crowley side were almost all over-reactionary, but the pro-Prendergast side were completely rational by comparison….
The most worrying selection for me is Loughman, i thought he had a poor game against Italy and i fear the English scrum will exploit his side
The scrum hasn't been good for a while now. Joe Mc needs a huge improvement in his game
Conan should be starting but who do you leave out
Halfbacks are best we have though the bench (if used) may not have an impact
Ringrose has been poor and I certainly wouldn't have him starting
Not over enthusiastic about Frawley or TOB on the bench and don't see them lighting it up when they come on.
I think I read somewhere that England are the only team (in this 6Ns) that haven't conceded a score in the last quarter, does our bench look like that they might change that stat.
