It's been ongoing the last few weeks, but yes, today is a bit mental. There was something like 18 transporters on the Atlantic heading east this morning alone.
Going through Irish airspace or around it?
Quite noticeable when a flight to Germany or the UK goes out of its way to avoid our airspace, that's a flight carrying weapons. Meanwhile others go right over us, or stop at Shannon.
I see 9 Stratotankers in a line heading SE over Europe and at least two E-3B Sentrys, a huge push-right. They are a precursor to any engagement I'd guess.

Irish airspace... a few
Irish sovereign airspace, there has been a few over the last few weeks, only E-3's last 24 hours from the brief look I took.
On a side note, there has been a number of adsb exemption requests, with some dark aircraft already gone to other fields. Which is unusual.
They were preceded by SHUCK 84 & 85 early in the morning.
I saw they were not mode-s over Ireland and the UK. 84 is already in Middle East.
I also note quite a number of RAF AIRBUS A-400M's heading SE over France, possibly on the way to the Med. Some of the US Stratotankers landed in Crete, some in Rota (ES), some in Sofia (BG),

That was a Warsaw-Dublin flight, so it's a bit unlikely that it went out over the North Atlantic at zero feet. EI-IGV operated DUB-BER this morning on schedule too.
Hmmm - I should have checked on FR24 then at the same time to see whether it was a problem with ADSBExchange, or some sort of GPS anomaly. Next time.

Yeah they often do that. Not so much as a test flight I don't think - more like pilot training flights.
Also, in most airline operations, if you don't manage to land after two attempts, the crew must divert to an alternate. Therefore the idea of making seven approaches on a regular flight would be out of the question.
The clue is in the flight number. Most test/delivery flights start with 9.

so much for being refused permission to use UK bases in the Iran venture.
The issue was to do with carrying out strikes from UK bases, whereas transiting through the UK would appear to be regarded as OK. Up to the UK Government and their legal advice, I suppose.
