So thought I’d throw this up, in a similar style to the electricity and gas switching deals available
one big switch have a deal for eir Broadband €35 a month and €100 credit added to your account for new residential account holders, if you’ve had eir before use spouses name which I’ve done in the past
My download is topping out at 96gb
Safe to assume you mean 96Mbs! Also I'll assume all your ethernet cables are Cat5e or better and capable of supporting gigabit performance.
You dont mention what router you are using. Going by reports on this thread, again I'll assume its a Fritzbox. First thing to check is that these have a energy saving feature called "Green Mode" that caps LAN ports at 100 Mbps by default to save a ridiculously tiny bit of power. Log into the router and it should be located under Home Network > Network Settings. Look for the LAN settings section and change form Green Mode to Power Mode.
If your still stuck let us know what model router it is.
OK an update on this. Speed is now up to 503mb. Was a constant 496mb with pure so by opting for the 1gb with digiweb I've gained 7mb.. I find this very unusual?
Hopefully tomorrow will being a further increase as when I was with Eir 1gb I got 996mb constantly.
It's not fritz box it's an zyxel router I was sent
Are you sure you're switched over? It's possible the Zyxel router is just working with the Digiweb PPPoE details on Pure Telecom.
You can go onto Speedtest.net and it'll list the ISP you're using.
Isp is coming up as Eir?
Yeah you're still on Pure Telecom, they use Eir's core backhaul network.
It's not just speed though, you'll also have more bandwidth to play with.
Not necessarily, I'm with Pure and speedtest always shows BT as my isp.
Yeah Pure Telecom assign Eir or BT when you order, I just meant in the OP's case. It would show Digiweb if the OP was switched over.
Just an update on this. Yesterday was switch day. This morning speeds are 496 and Eir still showing up on speedtest.net.net so it would appear I'm still on the pure package?
I get ya, a bit slow yesterday 🥴.
Yes you're still on Pure Telecom, you'll need to get in contact with Digiweb to see what's going on
will ring in the morning.
Try a quick reboot of the ont and router, that might switch you over.
Has anyone who downgraded pure 1gb to 500mb last year to stay on a cheaper rate had their 2026 renewal come up yet? Wondering if they'll be hiking the price up, staying as is or will let you upgrade back up to 1gb for a new offer?
That time of year for me. Coming off a year of €25/30 for 1gb with Vodafone. Renewed on a 24 month for 12 months 30 and 12 months 40. As good as anything I could see elsewhere.
The out of contract price for Pure Telecom is €50pm for 500Mb and €70pm for 1Gb.
You'd have to contact them to re-contract for another 12 months to save money. It mightn't be the new customer prices of €35pm 500Mb / €40pm 1Gb, but it would be lower than the out of contract prices. You could always switch instead.
Pure Telecom also seems to be increasing prices for existing customers this April.
There's a price increase of €3.50 for broadband every April with Vodafone, just to be aware of.

They say that but they never applied it to me last year or the previous 3 years. Hoping it's the same again.
Is this practice being made illegal? Or did I dream that?
No it's just that you will be able to leave the contract when the price increases even if it's mentioned at the start of the contract. This may entice providers to move away from in-contract price increases but maybe not.
This is already the case with providers who don't specifically list a price increase at the start of the contract (Sky, Virgin, Digiweb, Pure Telecom), if they increase prices you can leave the contract for a period of time.
I've never had that increase
Very strange, I would of assumed it only wouldn't apply for that year to someone signing up or re-contracting in April.
Would be interesting if someone could confirm if it did increase for them at all. I don't know why they'd have it mentioned multiple times when checking out and in the T&Cs if they don't do it.
I got the new customer price last year from PT, nothing yet about a price increase in April either, although my contract ends in April so maybe I won't get darted.
Re Pure Telecom price rise - saw a couple of mentions of this on the thread but doesn't seem to be blanket increases for everyone. Which is strange.
I wonder is it because of different carriers? I'm on OpenEir and didn't get the dreaded email, maybe Siro and NBI customers are affected?
Signing up for contract start in March, April is the only way to skip the CPI increase. Then leave immediately once contact ends.
I signed up for Eir last year and was told if you sign up any date in March you avoid the CPI increase until the following April. YMMV though.
What does this YMMV mean?
I actually switched to Sky over the weekend, the phone was included for free but maybe because I was a new customer.
How quickly did you get acknowlegement of thecancellation email? I sent on Fri but nothing yet, maybe they don't process these at weekends.
